Michael Monahan Sets School Record at UMass

Monahan breaks record in the 110-meter hurdles.
RESULTS
AMHERST, Mass. – Senior Michael Monahan (Tewksbury, Mass.) set the school record and won the 110-meter hurdles, and senior Kevin McGrath (Hopkinton, N.H.) took the high jump as the University of New Hampshire men's track and field team competed at the Pre-conference Invitational at UMass.
Monahan broke the record at 14.44. The record was previously set by D'Mahl McFadden in 2015 at 14.55.
McGrath won as he cleared the bar at 2.00 meters, while senior Emmanuel Nkounkou (Dover, N.H.) was second in the high jump at 1.90 meters.
Senior John King Jr. (Derry, N.H.) placed second in the javelin with a throw of 56.14 meters, while freshman Thomas Mason (Nashua, N.H.) was third at 55.10 meters.
Freshman Aidan Shea (Amherst, Mass.) was 11th out of 52 athletes with a time of 3:57.42 in the 1,500 meters.
Sophomore Zack Plaza (Auburn, N.H.) was seventh in the 800 meters at 1:53.78 and junior Kenney McElroy (West Linn., Ore.) was eighth at 1:54.67.
Senior Jack Kennefick (Walpole, Mass.) ran a career-best time of 56.03 in the 400-meter hurdles for a fifth-place finish.
Junior Forest MacKenzie (Deerfield, N.H.) placed fifth with a time of 15:38.07 in the 5,000 meters.
The Wildcats will return to action at the America East Championships on Saturday-Sunday, May 7-8, at Vermont.
