BOSTON – The University of New Hampshire women's track and field team competed at the David Hemery Valentine Invitational on Friday afternoon at Boston University's Track and Tennis Center.
The Wildcats had a strong performance in the field events on the afternoon, led junior thrower Sarah Williams (Dover, N.H.) registered mark of 59'11" in the weight throw, which broke her own school record and placed fourth among the field. She also earned a 12th place finish with a mark of 40'2" in the shot put.
Sophomore Danielle Heine (Waverly, Pa.) earned a second-place finish with an indoor personal record in the pole vault (11'9.75"), while junior Meline Almasian (Westford, Mass.) earned a sixth-place finish in the long jump with a mark of 18'1.75", which marked a personal best.
"The women's track and field team had a phenomenal meet at the Valentine Invitational," said UNH head coach Robert Hoppler. "Every athlete at the meet either set a personal record, a seasonal best or an indoor personal best. Across the board, every single athlete performed at the highest level that they have ever performed at in their life."
Junior Nicole Yeomans (Foxborough, Mass.) had a strong mile run with a time of 4:48.91.
"Sarah Williams continues with her terrific season, her consistency and competitiveness is just a pleasure to be a part of. Nicole Yeomans run was a top-10 run all-time in program history in the mile, Nicole has continued to improve every year and season after season through her hard work and dedication to her running and the team. I am very pleased and excited with where the team is at and what we were able to accomplish today."
The Wildcats return to action on Sunday, February 13 for a dual meet at Vermont for a noon meet.
