'Cats Take Down Boston College on the Heights in Overtime, 74-71

CHESTNUT HILL, Mass. – Junior forward Clarence Daniels (Brooklyn Park, Minn.) notched a career and game-high 34 points for the University of New Hampshire men's basketball team in the 74-71 overtime victory at ACC foe Boston College on Tuesday night in non-conference play from Conte Forum.
UNH improves to 3-5 overall on the year, while Boston College falls to 5-5 overall. BC had won 15 straight meetings against the Wildcats with UNH's last victory in the series coming on December 1, 1986.
Graduate student guard Nazim Derry (Atlantic City, N.J.) hit the game-winning three with 23 seconds to go from the left wing to give the Wildcats the win.
With 1:44 to go junior guard Nick Johnson (Bronx, N.Y.) completed a three-point play to tie the game at 71-71 in the extra frame.
Daniels tied the game with a three-pointer with just 1.3 seconds to go in regulation off a feed from Trey Woodyard (London, Ohio) to knot the game at 64-64 forcing overtime from the Heights.
Daniels registered 21 points on 9-for-12 shooting with six rebounds in the first half. He finished the game shooting 13-for-19 from the field playing all 45 minutes for UNH, which included 4-for-5 from the three-point arc with 14 rebounds. Daniels has posted 50 rebounds in his last three games for the Wildcats (16.7 rpg).
Johnson chipped in with 20 points (9-11 FT), eight rebounds and three steals, while freshman forward Ridvan Tutic (Novi Pazar, Serbia) added seven points and 10 rebounds for the 'Cats. Graduate student Matt Herasme (Chester, N.Y.) also registered seven boards and four points, while Derry totaled nine points.
The 'Cats opened the second half with a nine-point lead Eagles at 54-45 on a second chance jumper by Daniels with 11:21 to go in the second half.
The Wildcats and Eagles were tied 35-35 at the half, as UNH outshot BC, 45% to 41% in the opening frame.
Jaeden Zackery led the Eagles with a team-high 14 points in the losing effort.
The Wildcats return to action on Saturday, December 10 at St. John's. Game time from Lou Carnesecca Arena is 6 p.m. on FS2.
