Wildcats Place Third at America East Championships

Kira Nolan was UNH's top finisher in 6th place with a mark of 17:23.9
KINGSVILLE, Md. -- The University of New Hampshire women's cross country team placed third at the America East Cross Country Championship hosted by UMBC on Saturday morning at Jerusalem Mill Park.
UNH earned a total of 74 points in the 5k race behind second place Binghamton (67 pts.) and champion UMass Lowell (38 pts.).
"Our team has been in the top four in the conference in 22 of the last 24 years," said UNH head coach Robert Hoppler. "It's a continuation of that tradition and that legacy. We are very excited about how well Kira and Nicole ran today."
Graduate student Kira Nolan (Richmond, Vt.) led the way for the Wildcats with a sixth place finish at 17:23.9, while graduate student Nicole Yeomans (Foxborough, Mass.) earned a 13th place finish with a time of 17:52.9. Nolan earned America East First-Team All-Conference honors, while Yeomans was honored on the America East Second-Team.
Junior Elizabeth Martell (Essex Junction, Vt.) posted a time of 18:04.8, which was 15th best among the field of 82 runners.
Junior Lily Doody (Lee, N.H.) earned a time of 18:12.1 (18th), while freshman Delaney Hesler (Steep Falls, Maine) placed 22nd in her first career conference championship with a mark of 18:19.2
