Bruneau-Bouchard Takes Fourth in GS at Colby Carnival (Day 1)

'Cats in fourth place in first carnival of EISA season
CARRABASSETT VALLEY & WATERVILLE, Maine – Graduate student Will Bruneau-Bouchard (Quebec City, Quebec) nabbed fourth place in giant slalom and the UNH ski team totaled 348 points to move into fourth overall at the EISA-opening Colby College Carnival at Sugarloaf and Quarry Road.
Vermont leads with 412 points, followed by Middlebury (409) and Dartmouth (367).
At Sugarloaf, Bruneau-Bouchard paired a first-run time of 51.15 seconds with his second run of 51.28 for a combined 1:42.43 for 43 points. Sophomore Peder Nersnaes (Oslo, Norway) placed seventh in a time of 1:42.94 for seventh place (35 points), and senior Crowley Gentile (Greenland, N.H.) took 12th (28 points) in 1:43.38.
Senior Fanny Sanderberg (Oslo, Norway) headlined the women's alpine efforts by taking eighth in GS in a time of 1:49.50 (33 points). Freshman Gaia Palamara (Verona, Italy) registered an impressive debut by finishing 14th (1:50.28, 26 points), and senior Lisa Olsson (Stockholm, Sweden) notched 17 points by crossing the line in 23rd place (1:51.67).
Men's 20K Freestyle Mass Start
•Junior Scott Schulz (Lake Placid, N.Y.) headlined UNH's lineup at Quarry Road with a seventh-place finish in 50 minutes, 48.4 seconds for 37 points.
•Freshman Roger Anderson (Golden Valley, Minn.) collected 29 points in his debut by finishing in 13th place (52:02.7).
•Sophomore Seth Wyatt (Bozeman, Mont.) finished 15th (52:10.4) for 27 points.
Women's 15K Freestyle Mass Start
•Junior Luci Anderson (Golden Valley, Minn.) paced the Wildcats with an eighth-place finish (57:19.1) and 35 points.
•Sophomore Georgianna Fischer (Bozeman, Mont.) placed 19th (1:00:18.0) for 24 points, and sophomore Lea Stabeak Wenaas (Oslo, Norway) collected 16 points by finishing 30th (1:02:30.8).
NEXT UP
•The Colby Carnival continues Saturday with women's and men's 5K classic races at Quarry Road. The slalom races at Sugarloaf have been postponed to Sunday due to dangerously low temperatures and wind chills.
