Men’s Soccer Announces 2020-21 Team Awards

Freshman Yannick Bright named MVP
DURHAM, N.H. – The University of New Hampshire men's soccer team has announced its 2020-21 team awards. The team won the America East Tournament championship for the third straight season and earned its fourth consecutive NCAA Tournament appearance.

2020-21 UNH Men's Soccer Award Winners:
Robert Black Most Valuable Player Award: Yannick Bright
Harvey Johnson Most Inspirational Player Award: Alejandro Robles
Walter Weiland Most Dedicated Player Award: Bilal Kamal
Glenn Aborn Most Improved Player Award: Victor Menudier
Academic Achievement Award: Luke Madden
Coaches Award: Adam Savill
Lucas Currier Award: Bilal Kamal
Mike Veneto Golden Boot Award: Victor Menudier

Bright had an outstanding freshman season. He was named to the America East All-Tournament Team and to the All-Rookie Team. Bright started in all 10 games with one goal and two assists for four points.

Robles earned All-Northeast Region First Team honors for the second straight season. He was also the America East Goalkeeper of the Year for the second straight season and was named to the America East first team for the second consecutive season. Robles also earned America East All-Tournament honors.

The Lucas Currier Award is given to the player who best exemplifies the qualities of Lucas Currier, a member of the team with the will to overcome all obstacles and has a never-ending pursuit of excellence. Kamal was named to the America East Second Team and to the All-Academic Team. He posted three goals and three assists for nine points.

Menudier had a breakout season leading the team with six goals and 14 points, while his two assists were tied for third. His 0.67 goals per game were 22nd nationally and his 1.56 points were 27th. Menudier was named the Most Outstanding Player of the America East Tournament and earned second team All-Conference honors along with All-Academic Team accolades. He was also selected to the United Soccer Coaches All-Northeast Region First Team.

Madden posted a 3.95 GPA to earn the Academic Achievement Award. He played in four games this season, making his collegiate debut versus Northeastern on March 6.

Savill won the Coaches Award which is voted on by the coaching staff. He started in the last five games of the season and is a major contributor to the team.
The Wildcats concluded the season with an 8-1-1 (.850) overall record, posting the best winning percentage in program history and were ranked No. 19 in the final United Soccer Coach Poll of the season. UNH captured its third straight America East Tournament championship, qualifying for the NCAA Tournament for the fourth straight season. The Wildcats outscored their opposition this season by a 22-8 margin and earned their highest national ranking in the United Soccer Coach Poll in program history at No. 10 on April 13. UNH is 48-11-11 (.764) over the last four seasons.
