SCOUTING NEW HAMPSHIRE: The Wildcats look to win their first America East Outdoor Championship in school history. UNH has placed second in three of the last four years at the outdoor championship and most recently finished in fifth-place in 2019 with 82.5 points.
LAST TIME OUT: The Wildcats won the Pre-Conference Invitational with 175 points in Durham last weekend at the Reggie Atkins Track & Field Facility in Durham. Graduate student Alyssa Colbert (Smithfield, R.I.) and junior Sarah Williams (Dover, N.H.) each set school records as the University of New Hampshire women's track and field team won the Pre-Conference Invitational at the Reggie Atkins Track and Field Facility on Saturday. Colbert set the school record for the fourth time in the discus with a throw of 161'5" breaking her record of 157'4" that she set this season on April 11. Williams set the shot put record with a throw of 44'8.25". The record was set by Lauren Knight in 2004 with a throw of 44'3.50". The Wildcats won three individual events and one relay. Colbert won the discus, freshman Elizabeth Martell (Essex Junction, Vt.) won the 400 meters and graduate student Elisabeth Danis (Nottingham, N.H.) took the 5000 meters. The team of freshman Natalie Fraser (Gilford, N.H.), junior Kelly Hamlin (Ballston Lake, N.Y.), junior Nicole Yeomans (Foxborough, Mass.) and freshman Lily Doody (Lee, N.H.) won the 4 x 400 meter relay. UNH placed first (175), while Maine was second (120), Dartmouth was third (115), UMass Lowell was fourth (83), Hartford was fifth (81) and Vermont was sixth (52).
COLBERT RE-BREAKING SCHOOL RECORDS: Graduate student and thrower Alyssa Colbert (Smithfield, R.I.) was named the America East Field Performer of the Week for her school-record breaking performance at the Pre-Conference Invitational on April 24 at UNH. This is the second time she has won this honor as she earned Field Performer of the Week accolades on April 10, 2019. Colbert placed first and set the school record in the discus with a throw of 161'5" breaking her record of 157'4" that she set this season on April 11. The distance was the best this season in the America East. This is the fourth time in her career and third time this season that she has set this record.
MOSONGO READY TO GO: Graduate student Bosibori Mosongo (Indianapolis, Ind.) is coming off a third place finish in the heptathalon at UMass on April 15th. She finished third overall out of 12 competitors with a score of 4612 points, finishing just a few points under her personal best of 4620. Bosibori finished second in the high jump (5'4.25') and the javelin (97'3"), while she placed third in the shot put (34'10.25"). She also came in fourth in both the 200 meter race (26.41) and the long jump (17'0"), to go along with a fifth-place effort in the 800 meter race with a time of 2:31.13.
TEAM LEADERS: The Wildcats quintet of Cayla Barretto (Woburn, Mass.), Meg Champagne (Plattsburgh, N.Y.), Alyssa Colbert (Smithfield, R.I.), Chloe Holowachuk (Smithfield, R.I.) and Bosibori Mosongo (Indianapolis, Ind.) are the captain for the Wildcats' 2021 outdoor squad. All have have a chance to medal and earn points for the Wildcats this upcoming weekend.
