#10 UNH Men’s Soccer Wins Four America East Major Awards

Nine Wildcats honored by the conference.
BOSTON – The No. 10 University of New Hampshire men's soccer team won four of the six America East major awards as announced by the conference on Wednesday. Graduate student Alejandro Robles (Monterey, Mexico) was honored as the Goalkeeper of the Year for the second straight season, sophomore Rory O'Driscoll (Minneapolis, Minn.) was named the Midfielder of the Year, graduate student Bridger Hansen (Cottonwood Heights, Utah) earned Defender of the Year accolades and the Wildcats received the Coaching Staff of the Year Award for the second consecutive season and for the third time out of the last four seasons.
Nine members of the team were recognized in total by America East. A league-best eight Wildcats earned All-Conference honors, while one was named to the All-Rookie Team. UNH also had a conference-best three selections to the All-Academic Team.
Robles, O'Driscoll, Hansen and graduate student forward Paul Mayer (Strasbourg, France) earned first team honors, while senior midfielder Linus Fallberg (Jonkoping, Sweden), sophomore Bilal Kamal (London, England), senior forward Victor Menudier (Limoges, France) and junior defender Jonny Wolf (Hopkinton, Mass.) were named to the second team. Freshman midfielder Yannick Bright (Milan, Italy) was named to the All-Rookie Team. Robles, Kamal and Menudier earned All-Academic Team honors.
The Wildcats are the America East Regular Season Champions for the second straight season and will be the No. 1 seed in the four-team America East Championship. UNH will host the semifinals and finals at Wildcat Stadium on Thursday, April 15 and Saturday, April 17.
No. 1 seed UNH (6-0-1, 5-0-1 AE) will take on No. 4 seed Hartford (3-2-1, 3-2-1 AE) at 2 p.m. on Thursday, while No. 2 seed Vermont (4-1-1, 4-1-1 AE) will play No. 3 seed NJIT (4-4-1, 4-2-0 AE) at 7 p.m. The winners will play for the championship and the league's automatic bid to the NCAA Tournament on Saturday at 4 p.m. A limited number of UNH undergraduate student spectators will be allowed to attend the three games. The Wildcats will be looking to win their third straight America East Tournament.

Robles wins the Goalkeeper of the Year Award and is named to the first team for the second straight season. He was named to the All-Academic Team for the first time as he has a 3.51 GPA as an Industrial Studies major. He is 6-0-1 this season with 0.590 goals against average and he has two shutouts. His goals against average is 17th nationally. Also in 2019, Robles was named All-Northeast Region First Team and All-ECAC.

O'Driscoll is named the Midfielder of the Year and earns first team accolades for the first time in his career. He was named to the All-Rookie Team and to the All-Tournament Team in 2019. This season he has two goals and two assists for six points. His two game-winning goals are tied for second in the league. For his career, he has six goals and three assists for 15 points.

Hansen is named the Defender of the Year and to the first team in his first season as a Wildcat. He has anchored a defense that has only allowed six goals all season and the team's 0.824 goals against average is 39th in the nation. He has also led the team to being ranked second in the league in goals allowed and goals against average.

Mayer earns First Team All-Conference in his first season at UNH. He leads the team with five goals and 12 points, while he is also tied for second with two assists. Mayer is second in the league in goals and points, while his two game-winning goals are tied for second. Mayer is 22nd in the nation with 0.71 goals per game and he is 23rd with 1.71 points per game.

Fallberg earns All-Conference honors for the second time in his career as he was named to the first team as a freshman. This season, he is tied for second on the team with three goals and is fourth with seven points. He also has one assist on the season. For his career, Fallberg has 11 goals and five assists for 27 points.

Kamal tallied All-Conference honors for the first time in his career as he was on the All-Rookie team as a freshman. This season, he leads the team with three assists, while he is second with nine points and is tied for second with three goals. Kamal is tied for fourth in the league in assists and points. For his career, he has six goals and eight assists for 20 points. He has also been outstanding in the classroom with a 3.60 GPA as he earns All-Academic Team honors.

Menudier earns All-Conference and All-Academic accolades for the first time in his career. He is tied for second on the team with three goals and two assists, while he is third with eight points. He is tied for fifth in the league in points. For his career, he has three goals and three assists for nine points. Menudier has posted a 3.64 GPA as a Finance major.

Wolf is named to the All-Conference Team for the first time in his career. He was named to the All-Tournament Team in 2019 and to the All-Rookie Team in 2018. This season, he has been a member of a defense that is second in the league in goals allowed and goals against average. For his career, Wolf has five assists for five points.

Bright has had an outstanding freshman season as he has one goal and two assists for four points. He is tied for second on the team in assists and is tied for sixth in points.

The staff of head coach Marc Hubbard, associate head coach Rich Weinrebe, assistant coach Nick Thompson, goalkeeper coach Dave Williams and director of soccer operations Andrew Pesci won the Staff of the Year Award. This is the third time in four years that a staff led by Hubbard won this award as the Wildcats also won it in 2017 and 2019. UNH's 0.929 winning percentage this season is third in the nation. The Wildcats are currently ranked No. 10 in the United Soccer Coaches Poll which is the program's best-ever ranking. Hubbard is 68-22-14 (.721) in his six seasons as head coach at UNH including two straight NCAA Tournament appearances and the team winning the 2018 and 2019 America East Tournament championship.
