Anna Metzler set to compete at NCAA Championships on Thursday and Friday

DURHAM, N.H. — Junior Anna Metzler (Regensburg, Germany) of the University of New Hampshire swim team will compete at the NCAA Championships this week in the 200 IM and 400 beginning on Thursday, March 18 in Greensboro, N.C. at the Greensboro Aquatic Center.
Metzler will compete in the 200 IM on Thursday, March 18 with the days events beginning at 10am. She will also compete in here top event, the 400 IM on Friday, March 19 with the preliminaries beginning at 10am and if she advances the finals will be held at 6pm. The Top 16 finishers in the preliminaries will advance to the finals and will earn All-America status. Her qualifying time was the 26th best time in the NCAA rankings in the 400 IM.
Metzler qualified for the NCAA Championships with a strong showing in the season opener against Vermont at Swasey Pool, setting new pool records in the 200 and 400 individual medley. The All-American posted a 1:59.23 time in the 200 IM and a mark of 4:10.57 in the 400 IM.
In 2020, she was to scheduled to compete in the 200 & 400 IM and the 200 back, but the NCAA's were canceled due to the COVID-19 pandemic. Entering the NCAA Championships, she recorded the 19th fastest time in the nation in the 400 IM and was the only swimmer in the Top-20 not from a Power Five conference school. Metzler posted the 55th fastest time in the nation in the 200 IM.

"I am very excited to go this year, because last year I was completely prepared," said Metzler. "So I am very glad I get to go this year and actually swim. I qualified in a dual meet, now I have a big meet in a big pool with a lot more people there and a lot more faster people there."
