DURHAM, N.H. – The No. 4 nationally-ranked University of New Hampshire men's soccer team tied Vermont 1-1, in front of a record-setting crowd of 5,357 on Saturday evening at Wildcat Stadium. Senior Tola Showunmi (Enfield, England) scored his team-leading eighth goal of the season on a penalty kick in the 74th minute for the equalizer.
UNH is now 12-0-2 (4-0-1 AE), while the Catamounts are 8-3-2 (3-1-1 AE).

Graduate student Linus Fallberg (Jonkoping, Sweden) took the first shot of the game in the 27th minute firing one to the bottom left of the goal. Nate Silveira came up with the save for Vermont.
Then in the 34th minute, senior Chris Pinkham (Concord, N.H.) threw a ball in for graduate student Victor Menudier(Limoges, France) who almost found the back of the net off a header to the center of the goal.
The Catamounts scored first when Yves Borie headed the ball off a corner kick in the 73rd minute (72:29). Vermont led 1-0.
In the 74th minute (73:13), the Wildcats tied the game at 1-1 on a penalty kick goal by Showunmi.
Junior Jassem Koleilat (Dubai, United Arab Emirates) had one save in the final overtime period but neither teams could find the back of the net to take the lead as the game ended in a tie at 1-1.

The two teams tied with eight shots, and both shot three on goal.
The Wildcats attempted four corner kicks, while the Catamounts had two.
Koleilat and Silveria both had two saves each.

This was the 66th all-time meeting between the teams.
Showunmi now has eight goals to lead the team this season.
The game had a record-breaking attendance of 5,357 for a UNH men's soccer game at Wildcat Stadium. The previous record was 3,317 this season versus Colgate on Aug. 29, 2021.
The Wildcats are 6-0-2 at home this season. UNH is 40-1-7 all-time at Wildcat Stadium, outscoring the opposition by a 96-18 advantage.
