
Men’s Soccer Announces 2019 Team Awards

DURHAM, N.H. – The University of New Hampshire men's soccer team has announced its 2019 team awards. The team won the America East Tournament championship for the second straight season, as well as making the NCAA Tournament and hosting a NCAA Tournament game for the third year in a row as the Wildcats defeated Fairleigh Dickinson in the first round.

2019 UNH Men's Soccer Award Winners:
Robert Black Most Valuable Player Award: Antonio Colacci and Josh Bauer
Walter Weiland Most Dedicated Player Award: Jacob Mannix

ROBERT BLACK MOST VALUABLE PLAYER AWARD

Senior Antonio Colacci (Bradenton, Fla.) earned third team All-American honors this season. He was also named to the All-Northeast Region first team for the second straight year. He played in 63 career games, posting 13 goals and 16 assists for 42 points. Colacci led the team this season in goals (7), assists (9) and points (23). Earlier in the season he tied an America East conference game record with four assists versus UMass Lowell. He was named the America East Midfielder of the Year and was on the America East first team for the second straight year, while he also earned America East All-Tournament honors for the second consecutive time.

Junior Josh Bauer (Bedford, N.H.) wins this award for the second straight season. He was one of only three student-athletes to earn first team All-America and first team Scholar All-America honors this season. He also earned All-Northeast Region first team honors for the second straight season, was the first player in school history to be a semifinalist for the MAC Hermann Trophy, was the ECAC and America East Defender of the Year for the second straight season, was the America East Tournament MVP for the second consecutive year, was an All-America East and ECAC first team selection for the second straight year and was on the America East All-Academic Team. This season he had four goals and five assists for 13 points. Bauer has played in 57 career games with 10 goals and 10 assists for 30 points.
WALTER WEILAND MOST DEDICATED PLAYER AWARD & HIGHEST ACADEMIC ACHIEVER

Graduate student Jacob Mannix (Longmeadow, Mass.) was awarded the Walter Weiland Most Dedicated Player Award for the second straight season. He also won the team's Highest Academic Achiever Award. He was a second team All-America East selection this season. Mannix, who is an Analytics major, has a 3.92 GPA as a graduate student and a 3.53 as an undergraduate. This season he was named to the Scholar All-East Region First Team and the America East All-Academic Team. As a senior he was a member of Chi Alpha Sigma, the National College Athlete Honor Society, while he is a two-time member of the America East Commissioners Honor Roll. He played in all 20 games this season with 16 starts.

HARVEY JOHNSON MOST INSPIRATIONAL PLAYER AWARD

Graduate student James Thomas (Woking, England) won the Harvey Johnson Most Inspirational Player Award. Thomas joined the Wildcats this season as a graduate student and was a captain on this season's team demonstrating his strong leadership ability. Thomas posted two assists on the season, including one on the game-winning goal versus Marist on Sept. 21.
GLENN ABORN MOST IMPROVED PLAYER AWARD & LUCAS CURRIER AWARD

Redshirt freshman Rory O'Driscoll (Minneapolis, Minn.) won the Glenn Aborn Most Improved Player. He was named to the America East All-Rookie Team and was selected to the America East All-Tournament Team. O'Driscoll posted four goals and one assist for nine points this season including scoring the game-winning goal in the 3-0 win versus UMass Lowell in the America East Tournament semifinals.
O'Driscoll also won the Lucas Currier Award. The award is given to the player who best exemplifies the qualities of Lucas Currier, a 12th grade member of the team with the will to overcome all obstacles and has a never-ending pursuit of excellence. O'Driscoll best exemplifies the spirit of Lucas in everything he does.

COACHES AWARD

Thomas and sophomore Jonny Wolf (Hopkinton, Mass.) won the Coaches Award. Wolf was a member of the America East All-Tournament Team. He started all 20 games and posted three assists for three points this season, including setting up the game-winning goal in the 2-1 win versus Marist on Sept. 21. Wolf has five assists for five career points.

MIKE VENETO GOLDEN BOOT AWARD

Colacci wins the Mike Veneto Golden Boot Award for the second straight year. The award is given to the player who scores the most goals over the course of the season. He led the team with seven goals. Colacci also led the team with nine assists and 23 points.
The Wildcats concluded the 2019 season with a 15-2-3 (.825) record, posting the best winning percentage in program history and tying the school record for wins. The Wildcats won the America East Co-Regular Season championship, earning the title for only the second time in program history. Then UNH captured its second straight America East Tournament championship, qualifying for the NCAA Tournament for the third straight season. The 1-0 win over Fairleigh Dickinson in the first round was the second time in the last three years the Wildcats have won a NCAA Tournament game. UNH only allowed 11 goals all year and posted the best team goals against average in the nation (0.528). UNH was ranked in the United Soccer Coaches Poll every week except the first week reaching a season-best No. 13 ranking. UNH concluded the year ranked No. 17 in the RPI and No. 22 by United Soccer Coaches.
