DURHAM, N.H. – Harvard Pilgrim Health Care recently stepped up to complete its first year of community partnership with the University of New Hampshire Department of Athletics and its multimedia rights holder, Wildcat Sports Properties.
Harvard Pilgrim Health Care finalized a donation—totaling $5,500—to Operation Hat Trick (OHT) via a commitment to donate $100 for every goal scored at home by the UNH men's ice hockey team. The Wildcats scored 52 goals at the Whittemore Center during the regular season, and the donation was rounded up and presented to Dot Sheehan, founder and president/CEO of OHT at the season finale versus Boston College on March 7.
"Operation Hat Trick was thrilled and honored to be selected as Harvard Pilgrim Health Care's Goals for Good recipient," Sheehan said. "OHT was founded at UNH and is deeply rooted in hockey and college athletics. Our mission is to support the recovery of wounded service members and veterans, and the funds raised this season align with our mission perfectly."
In addition to the recent donation, during the 2019 Wildcats football campaign, Harvard Pilgrim Health Care donated $100 for every UNH touchdown scored to Court Appointed Special Advocates (CASA) of New Hampshire. The donation totaled $5,000.
"Harvard Pilgrim Health Care was proud to come in and support two organizations in our community through the successes of our state's most highly touted collegiate teams," said Dr. William Brewster, vice president of the New Hampshire Market for Harvard Pilgrim Health Care. "The coaches and student-athletes that make up UNH's teams serve as role models and have the power to inspire youth to be engaged and active. We know that the opportunities provided as part of our partnership with the Wildcats have positively impacted CASA of NH and now Operation Hat Trick. We look forward to continuing to follow the Wildcats and these two non-profits for many years to come."
