Morgan Winters, Nick Ring and Conner de Haro all with multi-point nights

DURHAM, N.H. – Senior captain Morgan Winters (Osprey, Fla.) posted three points and junior alternate captain J.P. Turner (East Falmouth, Mass.) scored the game winner as the No. 20 University of New Hampshire men's hockey team defeated Colgate, 3-2, on Sunday evening in the Whittemore Center at Key Auto Group Complex in non-conference action. The teams split the series as Colgate won on Saturday, 3-2.

Winters recorded one goal and two assists, while junior forward Nick Ring (Hingham, Mass.) tallied one goal and one assist, and freshman defensemen Conner de Haro (Raleigh, N.C.) secured two assists. Senior goalie Kyle Chauvette (Goffstown, N.H.) made 18 saves to earn the win.

The Wildcats improve to 11-8-0, while the Raiders fall to 7-11-2.

HOW IT HAPPENED:

The Wildcats struck first at 7:27 of the first period on the power play when Ring scored a goal off the rush when Winters passed the puck into the slot for a tip-in by Ring. de Haro also posted an assist on the goal.
Jake Schneider tied the game 1-1 at 13:14 of the second period with a tip-in from a shot off the point by Jacob Napier.
Just 52 seconds later, Winters made it 2-1 UNH at 14:06 of the second period when he scored off the backhand from a pass across the slot from Ring. Sophomore defenseman Josh Player (Thorofare, N.J.) also tallied an assist.
Turner put the Wildcats up 3-1 with a one-timer in the slot off a pass from Winters at 1:20 of the third period. de Haro posted his second assist of the night.
Max Nagel cut the UNH lead in half and made it 3-2 UNH at 5:10 of the third period on a one-timer.
With 1:30 remaining in the third period the Raiders went with an empty net but were unable to score the equalizer for the 3-2 final.

UNH outshot Colgate, 36-20.
The Wildcats went 1-3 on the power play while the Raiders went 0-3.
Chauvette posted 18 saves for the Wildcats, while Reid Dyck made 33 for the Raiders.

Winters tied his career-high for points as this is the fourth time he has recorded three points.
Winters and Ring extended their points streaks to four games.
