Sutherlin, Maultsby Lead 'Cats to Senior Day Win vs. Binghamton

DURHAM, N.H. – Sean Sutherlin (New Brighton, Minn.) recorded his 10th double-double of the season and Marque Maultsby (Raleigh, N.C.) matched his career high of 17 points to propel the University of New Hampshire men's basketball team to Saturday afternoon's 89-70 Senior Day win against Binghamton University at Lundholm Gym.
Sutherlin netted 20 points and pulled down 13 rebounds. Maultsby helped fuel UNH to a 40-22 halftime lead with 16 first-half points. He also tallies six rebounds, two assists and a steal.
Josh Hopkins (Greensboro, N.C.) finished with 16 points and five rebounds. Nick Guadarrama (Newington, Conn.) tallied 13 points, five rebounds and five assists.
Binghamton was led by Sam Sessoms, who scored 38 points.
UNH extended its season-best winning streak to four games to improve to 10-2 at home, 15-13 overall and 8-7 in America East. Binghamton ends the regular season at 10-19, 4-12.

FIRST HALF
•There were three ties and four lead changes in the game – all in the first half.
•Trailing 13-7 at 12:36, a pair of Guadarrama layups fueled UNH's 6-0 run to tie the score, 13-13, at 11:14.
•With the score tied 18-18 at 8:36, the Wildcats closed the half on a 22-4 run to take a commanding 40-22 lead into halftime.
•That decisive spurt was ignited by a 7-0 run in which Guadarrama and Maultsby made layups and Sutherlin hit a 3-pointer to give New Hampshire a 25-18 lead at 6:47.
•Maultsby scored all of UNH's points during a 10-2 run that extended the advantage to 35-20 at 4:20.
•Hopkins' 3-pointer with 54 seconds remaining closed the first half scoring.
SECOND HALF
•Hopkins opened the second half with another 3-pointer to push the margin to 21 points, 43-22.
•Binghamton closed within 14 points, 53-39, at 14:01 but Hopkins made back-to-back 3-balls to give UNH a 59-39 lead at 13:03.
•The Wildcats inched out to a 22-point advantage, 71-49, and opened the cushion to 31 points with a 9-0 run that was capped by a Mark Carbone (Wethersfield, Conn.) four-point play at 7:22.

•There was a season-high 1,444 fans in attendance for Senior Day.
•Prior to the game, UNH honored Chris Lester (Barrington, Ill.) and Luke Rosinski (Derry, N.H.), as well as manager Matt Wilson, as the Class of 2020.
•Lester finished with two points, three rebounds and four assists in 23:29.
•Rosinski tallied four points, one rebound, one assist and a steal in 11:00.
•Head coach Bill Herrion extended his program record for career wins to 187. He was presented with a commemorative ball prior to Saturday's game for breaking the record with this past Wednesday's 77-70 win at Maine.
•UNH's .540 field goal percentage (34-63) was the second highest of the season (best against a Division I opponent).
•The Wildcats made 12 3-pointers to tie their season high established Dec. 7, 2019 at Quinnipiac University.
