Wildcats Lead Entering Final Day of AE Championships

Wildcats have won 10 out of the 14 events.
WORCESTER, Mass. – The Wildcats won four events on day three and have won 10 of the 14 events so far at the America East Championships at WPI. UNH is currently in first place with 574 points entering the final day of competition, while UMBC is second with 517.5. The four-day America East Championships are from Feb. 13-16.
The Wildcats continue to set records at the championships. The 400 Medley Relay team of junior Melissa Dingle (Brighton, Ontario), freshman Jamy Lum (Honolulu, Hawaii), sophomore Anna Metzler (Regensburg, Germany) and senior Corinne Carbone (Medway, Mass.) set new meet, conference, pool and school records with a gold-medal winning time of 3:40.72. Earlier in the day Metzler set a meet and pool record in the 400 IM with a time of 4:11.56. Lum set a UNH freshman record by winning the 100 breast with a time of 1:01.39.

HOW IT HAPPENED:
400 IM

The Wildcats swept the medals as Metzler won gold (4:11.56), Carbone silver (4:13.78) and junior Paige Hillis (Mississauga, Ontario) bronze (4:23.63). Freshman Paige Edmier (Bartlett, Ill.) placed seventh (4:33.39). Metzler and Carbone each recorded NCAA B cut times. Metzler won her second individual championship of the competition and the fourth of her career.

100 FLY

Dingle won bronze in the 100 fly with a time of 55.60.
200 FREE

Freshman Audrey Tirrell (Gaithersburg, Md.) earned a silver medal in the 200 free with a time of 1:51.93.
100 BREAST

The Wildcats took the gold and silver in the 100 breast. Lum won her first career America East individual championship with a UNH freshman record time of 1:01.39. Junior Miranda Bacon (Scotia, N.Y.) took silver with a time of 1:03.81.

100 BACK

Dingle defended her 2019 America East championship in the 100 back by taking gold with a time of 55.58. This is her second career individual championship.
400 MEDLEY RELAY

Then Dingle, Lum, Metzler and Carbone electrified the crowd with a record-breaking performance of 3:40.72. The time broke four records setting new marks for the meet, conference, pool and school.
