UNH wins conference-best eighth championship
WORCESTER, Mass. – The University of New Hampshire swimming and diving team won the 2020 America East Championship at WPI with 876 points. The Wildcats dominated the championships winning 15 of the 20 events and capturing the championship by 116.5 points. UMBC was second with 759.5 points. The Wildcats have now won eight championships which are the most in conference history. UNH previously won in 1998, 1999, 2005, 2006, 2013 and 2014 and 2018. METZLER NAMED MOST OUTSTANDING SWIMMER Anna Metzler and America East Commissioner Amy Huchthausen
Sophomore Anna Metzler (Regensburg, Germany) was named the Most Outstanding Swimmer as she won three individual championships and three relay titles, while also set 15 new records. She set the America East and UNH record in the 200 free as the lead-off leg of the 800 Free Relay winning team with a time of 1:47.12, while she set an America East and UNH record in the 500 free with a time of 4:46.95. Metzler also recorded an America East Championships and Pool Record in the 400 IM with a time of 4:11.56, while she posted a time of 1:57.17 in the 200 Back to set new conference, meet and school records. She was also a member of the 400 Medley Relay team that set new meet, conference, pool and school records with a time of 3:40.72. Last year she was named the Rookie of the Year. And the she concluded the America East Championships as a member of the 400 Free Relay winning team.
STEFANELLI EARNS MOST OUTSTANDING DIVER HONORS Allison Stefanelli and America East Commissioner Amy Huchthausen
Senior Allison Stefanelli (Loudonville, N.Y.) was named the Most Outstanding Diver. She swept the diving events winning her third straight Three-Meter title and her first career One-Meter championship. The four-time America East champion earned All-Conference accolades five times during her outstanding career.
LUM NAMED ROOKIE OF THE YEAR Jamy Lum and America East Commissioner Amy Huchthausen
FreshmanJamy Lum (Honolulu, Hawaii)earned Rookie of the Year accolades for her outstanding performance at the championships as she won two individual titles and a silver. Sheset a UNH freshman record in the 100 Breast with a gold-medal winning time of 1:01.39, while she broke her own UNH freshman record in the 200 breast with a time of 2:13.36 to win the event. Lum was also a member of the 400 medley relay team that broke four records. She also placed second in the 500 free and was a member of the 200 Medley Relay championship winning team.
CARBONE RECEIVES DAVE ALEXANDER COACHES' AWARD Corinne Carbone and America East Commissioner Amy Huchthausen
Senior Corinne Carbone (Medway, Mass.) won the Dave Alexander Coaches' Award for totaling the most points at the America East Championships over her four years. She is a 14-time America East champion with eight individual championships and six relay gold medals. Carbone earned All-America East honors 17 times.
UNH WINS COACHING STAFF OF THE YEAR
Cece Arrison, Josh Willman and Mike Jolly
The UNH swimming and diving staff of head coach Josh Willman, assistant coach Mike Jolly and diving coach Cece Arrison were named the America East Coaching Staff of the Year. This is the 14th time the Wildcats have won this award.

Freshman Paige Edmier (Bartlett, Ill.) placed third and earned a bronze medal with a time of 17:22.94. Sophomore Ciara McCormack (Newton, Mass.) finished fourth (17:26.87), while freshman Elsie Pagel (Hillsboro, Ore.) was fifth (17:30.62). After this event UNH led UMBC, 629-570.5.
200 BACK
Metzler continued to set records as she won the 200 back with a time of 1:57.17 breaking the conference, meet and school records. Junior Paige Hillis(Mississauga, Ontario) earned the bronze medal with a time of 2:01.89, while junior Melissa Dingle (Brighton, Ontario) was sixth with a time of 2:04.09. The Wildcats extended their lead to 65.5 points after the event leading UMBC, 684-618.5.
100 FREE
Freshman Olivia Stille (Stockholm, Sweden) won her first career America East championship with a time of 50.89 in the 100 free. Sophomore Cate Wardinski (Burke, Va.) placed fifth with a time of 52.20. The Wildcats took an 81.5-point lead over UMBC with a 730-648.5 margin.
200 BREAST
Lum captured her second individual championship when she broke her own UNH freshman record in the 200 breast with a time of 2:13.36. junior Emily Dolloff-Holt(Woodland Park, Colo.) earned silver (2:16.51) and junior Miranda Bacon (Scotia, N.Y.) took the bronze (2:16.54) as the Wildcats swept the medals. UNH moved out to a 102.5-point lead over UMBC, leading 783-680.5.
200 FLY
Carbone won her eighth career individual America East championship and her first in the 200 fly with a time of 2:00.21. This was her first time competing in the event at the championships. Dolloff-Holt placed fourth (2:04.64) and freshman Madison Linstedt (Marion, Ohio) was seventh (2:05.56). The Wildcats' lead over UMBC went to 106.5 points with a score of 836-729.5.
400 FREE RELAY
The 400 Free Relay Team of Stille, Metzler, Wardinski and Carbone won the final event with a time of 3:24.79.
