Astle Leads ‘Cats in ECAC/IC4A Day Two

Astle’s new personal best in the weight throw wins the event.
BOSTON – University of New Hampshire junior thrower Zachary Astle (Newbury, N.H.) set a new personal best in the weight throw, winning his first ECAC/IC4A individual championship.
Astle's longest throw went 64 feet, one inch, which beat his old personal best set at this year's America East Indoor championship by almost three full feet. This comes off Astle's second straight America East shot put title last weekend at the same facility.
The Wildcats sit in eighth in the team score after one day of action and five men's events scored. The 'Cats will send several other competitors to finals on the track and in the field on Sunday, March 3.

QUALIFIERS
Wildcats who qualified for finals occurring Sunday:
- Brett Hoerner (Manchester, N.H.) took second in his heat and fourth overall in the 1000 meter run qualifiers with a time of two minutes 26.94 seconds.
- William Ulrich (Mineola, N.Y.) finished was also runner-up in his heat, finishing seventh overall in the qualifying round with a time of 4:07.47.
- The 4x800 relay team, comprised of Aaron Dobe (Contoocook, N.H.), Matthew Adams (Concord, N.H.), Brett Hoerner and Thomas Harter (Hampton, N.H.) qualified for Sunday's final with a time of 7:37.68.
The ECAC/IC4A indoor championship meet concludes Sunday, March 3.
