Pinkham Top Finisher at Valentine Invitational

BOSTON – The University of New Hampshire men's track & field team sent a small group of runners down to the Boston University track and tennis center for the 2019 David Hemery Valentine invitational meet.
The meet saw Wildcats competing in three individual events, and one relay event, as the Valentine Invitational events concluded Saturday evening.
500 METER RUN:
In the 500m, the 'Cats were led by their top finisher of the day, freshman Chris Pinkham (Concord, N.H.), who finished sixth overall in the final standings, winning his heat with a time of 1 minute, 4.70 seconds. The time shaved almost a full two seconds off his previous career-best in the event, set at the New England championship last weekend.
Also competing in the 500 were fifth year Thomas Harter (Hampton, N.H.), who finished 16th in the finals standings after winning his heat with a new personal best time of 1:05.22. Junior Matthew Adams (Concord, N.H.) took 25th with a time of 1:05.70, just 0.10 seconds faster than his old career best, and freshman Ian Daly (Meredith, N.H.) finished 33rd in the final standings, his time was also a new personal best at 1:06.17.
MILE RUN:
In the mile, senior William Ulrich (Mineola, N.Y.) was the lone Wildcat competing; he finished third in his heat with a time of 4:06.22, just missing his career best in the event by two seconds. That time was good for 33rd in the final standings.
3000 METER RUN:
Another lone Wildcat in the event, fifth-year Timothy Kenefick (Guilford, Conn.) took on the 3000m run, taking runner up in his heat with a time of 8:17.48. That time shaved about three seconds off his previous personal best, and put him in 36th in the final standings.
4x400 RELAY:
A team of the 500m runners took on the packed 4x400 relay competition; the team of Pinkham, Daly, Adams, and Harter took second in their heat with a time of 3:20.58. That time was good for 21st in the overall final standings.
UP NEXT:
After a week off, the Wildcats head back to Boston University for the 2018-19 America East Indoor Track & Field Championships on Friday, February 22 to Saturday, Feb. 23.
