DURHAM, N.H. – The University of New Hampshire women's cross country team heads to Bethlehem, Pennsylvania this weekend to compete in one of the nation's premier cross country events, for the 46h annual Paul Short Run at Lehigh University.
The Wildcats are coming a strong showing at the Coast to Coast Invitational in Boston two weekends ago, and now face the women's gold race at the Paul Short Run this Saturday.
MEET DETAILS:
Date: October 6, 2019
Race: Women's College Gold 6K – 11:45 A.M.
Location: Goodman Campus Cross Country Course – Bethlehem, Pa.
The Wildcats will send their same squad from the Coast to Coast Invitational to the college gold 6K race. Fifth-year senior Shannon Murdock (Exeter, N.H.) was the top Wildcat in the race, finishing 40th with a near-personal best time. She was aided by Meg Champagne (Plattsburgh, N.Y.), Elisabeth Danis (Nottingham, N.H.), Madeline Quigley (Rowley, Mass.), Caroline Mahoney (Bedford, N.H.), Nicole Yeomans (Foxborough, Mass.) and Cayla Barretto (Woburn, Mass.) as the Wildcats took 10th overall in the team standings.
RANKED IN THE REGION
The UNH women's cross country team is no stranger to the USTFCCCA regional rankings; the Wildcats come into the weekend ranked 11th in the northeast region, after entering the rankings at #13 earlier this season. The 'Cats are the highest ranked America East team in the northeast region.
FROM THE COACH:
"It's a deep, competitive race; Our team has run in the gold race in the past, we feel like we are training well and coming together as a team, and obviously running in a big race with a lot of teams will be a big test."
