Crookshank posted seven points over four games.
WAKEFIELD, Mass. – University of New Hampshire freshman forward Angus Crookshank (North Vancouver, British Columbia) has been named the Hockey East Rookie of the Month for December. Crookshank recorded three goals and four assists for seven points as the Wildcats went 3-1-0 in the month of December. This is the first time he has earned this honor, while he has been named the Rookie of the Week twice this season.
He was a plus six and posted at least one point in each game. Crookshank had two multi-point games with two goals and one assist for three points as UNH defeated the Big Green, 4-0, on Dec. 8, and one goal and one assist for two points as the Wildcats earned a 4-3 victory versus Bentley on Dec. 30. For the season, the Ottawa Senators' draft pick has five goals and eight assists for 13 points.
The Wildcats, who have won three straight games and are 4-1-2 over their last seven contests, return to action on Friday, Jan. 4, when they take on Merrimack at the Whittemore Center at 7 p.m. on NESN. Then on Saturday, Jan. 5, UNH will play No. 15 Yale at the Whittemore Center at 7 p.m. on ESPN+. You can buy tickets by calling the Whittemore Center Box Office at (603) 862-4000 or by visiting UNHWildcats.com.
In support of senior Richard Boyd (Delray Beach, Fla.), the game on Friday will be Crohn's Disease Awareness Night. Boyd was diagnosed with the disease when he was 14 years old. All the proceeds from the Chuck-A-Puck contest during the second intermission will be for the Crohn's & Colitis Foundation's New England Chapter. Also as part of Fan Appreciation Fridays, there will be the second trading card series giveaway of the season and a post-game autograph session with members of the men's hockey team.
On Cats 'n' Dogs night versus Yale, the Wildcats will be collecting pet food and supplies for our furry friends at Cocheco Valley Humane Society and the NHSPCA. Bring an item to receive a voucher to a future game. Plus, it's Dollar Dog Night. Also Hockey East will be on hand to help raise money for breast cancer awareness as part of the Hockey East Skating Strides initiative. All proceeds are going to the Ellie Fund.
