Kyle Chauvette recorded 36 saves
EAST LANSING, Mich. – Senior goalie Kyle Chauvette (Goffstown, N.H.) posted 36 saves for the Wildcats but the University of New Hampshire men's hockey team fell to No. 2 Michigan State, 2-0, on Friday night at Munn Ice Arena. The two teams split the season-opening series, 1-1-0, as the Wildcats won 4-3 on Thursday evening.
The Wildcats fall to 1-1-0, while the Spartans improve to 1-1-0.

HOW IT HAPPENED:
- The first period went scoreless as Chauvette made 12 saves to keep the Spartans off the scoreboard.
- MSU took a 1-0 lead at 14:12 of the second period when Matt Basgall sent a wrist shot to the stick side of the net from the right faceoff circle for the goal.
- The Spartans extended their lead to 2-0 at 2:36 of the third period as Porter Martone passed the puck from behind the net to Patrick Geary who scored on a one-timer from the slot.
- Neither team found the back of the net for the remainder of the game for the 2-0 score.
INSIDE THE NUMBERS:
- MSU outshot UNH, 38-13.
- The Wildcats went 0-1 on the power play, while the Spartans went 0-3.
- The 'Cats blocked 27 shots and were led by freshman defenseman Ryan Philbrick (Concord, N.H.) who recorded six.
- Chauvette made 36 saves, while Trey Augustine tallied 13 saves to earn the win.
