Conmy and Skrastins scored for the Wildcats
ORONO, Maine – Sophomore forward Ryan Conmy (Alexandria, Va.) and junior forward Kristaps Skrastins (Grobina, Latvia) each scored for the Wildcats, but the University of New Hampshire men's hockey team fell to No. 5 Maine, 5-2, on Saturday evening at Alfond Arena in the Border Battle presented by Buffalo Wild Wings.
The Wildcats fall to 11-13-4 (3-12-3 Hockey East), while the Black Bears improve to 19-5-5 (11-3-5 Hockey East).

HOW IT HAPPENED:
- After a scoreless first period, the Black Bears took a 1-0 lead at 8:39 of the second period when Brandon Holt sent a shot to the stick side of the net from the left faceoff circle.
- The Wildcats responded at 9:58 when Conmy blasted a one-timer stick side off a pass from junior forward Cy LeClerc (Brentwood, N.H.) to tie the game at 1-1 with the power play goal. Senior defenseman Luke Reid (Warman, Saskatchewan) also posted an assist. The goal was Conmy's team-leading 14th of the season.
- UNH went out to a 2-1 advantage with a goal by Skrastins at 15:51 as he deflected a shot by senior alternate captain Nikolai Jenson (Cold Spring, Minn.). Senior alternate captain Connor Sweeney (North Andover, Mass.) also recorded an assist. The goal was the first of the season for Skrastins.
- Maine tied the contest at 8:07 when Charlie Russell fired a shot over the glove side shoulder of Whale just after a Black Bear power play had expired to make the score 2-2.
- The Black Bears then scored two goals over 12 seconds to take a 4-2 lead. Sully Scholle (14:54) and Thomas Freel (15:06) found the back of the net for Maine.
- A shorthanded goal by Josh Nadeau at 17:14 clinched the 5-2 win for Maine.
INSIDE THE NUMBERS:
- Maine outshot UNH, 33-24.
- The Wildcats went 1-5 on the power play, while the Black Bears went 0-4.
- Junior goalie Jared Whale (Calgary, Alberta) made 28 saves, while Albin Boija tallied 22 saves.

- Sweeney extended his point streak to three games as he has one goal and two assists for three points over this stretch.
