Wildcats Capture 2018 America East Championship

Baykova earns Swimmer of the Meet; Miller receives Diver of the Meet
WORCESTER, Mass. – The University of New Hampshire swimming and diving team captured the 2018 America East Championship at WPI with 794 points. This is the program's seventh America East Championship. UNH previously won in 1998, 1999, 2005, 2006, 2013 and 2014. Three-time defending champion UMBC was second with 789.5 points.

Senior Liza Baykova (Moscow, Russia) was named the Most Outstanding Swimmer as she won the 50 free, 100 free and 200 free championships along with being a member of the first place 200 medley and 400 medley relay teams. She set four meet records. Baykova also won the Dave Alexander Coaches' Award for totaling the most points at the America East Championships over her four years.

Senior Hailee Miller (Milton, Mass.) was named the Most Outstanding Diver as she won the one-meter championship and placed fifth in the three-meter.

The Wildcats won 10 of the 20 events at the four-day championships.

HOW IT HAPPENED:
1650 FREE
Junior Brittany Moffatt (Cedar Falls, Iowa) placed fifth in the 1650 free with a time of 17:17.02.
Senior Bridget Miller (Longmeadow, Mass.) was sixth with a time of 17:23.62.
200 BACK
Freshman Melissa Dingle (Brighton, Ontario) placed second to take the silver with a career-best time of 2:01.57.
Freshman Paige Hillis (Mississauga, Ontario) was seventh with a time of 2:03.48.
100 FREE
Baykova earned her 11th career America East individual title with a meet record time of 49.58. She had set the record earlier in the preliminaries with a time of 49.60. It was also a NCAA B time. Baykova has won the 100 free championship all four years of her career.
Sophomore Corinne Carbone (Medway, Mass.) earned third place with a time of 51.59.
200 BREAST
Freshman Miranda Bacon (Scotia, N.Y.) placed third with a career-best time of 2:20.10.
Sophomore Julia Rucker (Salem, N.H.) was sixth with a career-best time of 2:22.41.
Sophomore Milana Evsten (Stockholm, Sweden) was eighth with a time of 2:26.56.
200 FLY
Freshman Emily Dolloff-Holt (Woodland Park, Colo.) placed third with a career-best time of 2:04.14.
Hillis was fifth with a time of 2:07.04.
Junior Vivienne El-Sibay (Munich, Germany) with a career-best time of 2:04.30.
400 FREE RELAY
The 400 free relay team of Carbone, senior Kaitlin Cahill (Troy, N.Y.), Baykova and Moffatt placed third in the 400 free to clinch the team championship with a time of 3:26.14.
