LEXINGTON, Va. – The University of New Hampshire swimming and diving team sits in first place with 120 points after the opening day of the America East Championships at the VMI Aquatic Center on Wednesday.

RESULTS

- The Wildcats secured their first gold medal of the meet in the 800 freestyle relay, as freshman Lydia Hart (Cornwall, ON, Canada), sophomore Emily Wright (Ventura, Calif.), freshman Teagen Jeffers (Bedford, N.H.), and freshman Amelia Labno (Rosemount, Minn.) posted a winning time of 7:21.08, earning 40 points.
- Hart's leadoff time of 1:46.74 set new records for UNH, the VMI pool, and the entire America East conference in the 200 free.
- In the 3-meter dive, sophomore Grace Blume (Dedham, Mass.) earned silver with a score of 235.45 (17 points), while senior Emma Clarke (Avon, N.Y.) took bronze at 232.85 (16 points). Senior Ana O'Neil (St. Paul, Minn.) rounded out a strong showing in fourth place with a score of 230.00 (15 points).
- UNH added a podium finish in the 200 medley relay, with Wright, senior Annie Jencova (Waikanae, New Zealand), sophomore Grace Mahon (Orange, Conn.), and junior Audrey Mahoney (Downers Grove, Ill.) taking third in 1:41.67 for 32 points.
- Mahoney anchored with the fastest split in America East history, clocking in at 21.91 seconds.

- The Wildcats continue competition at the America East Championships on Thursday, Feb. 20, with prelims beginning at 10 a.m. and finals at 5:30 p.m. All four days of the championship are being streamed on ESPN+.
- In last year's America East Championships at the VMI Aquatic Center, the Wildcats placed second. UNH has a league-record 11 championships (1998, 1999, 2005, 2006, 2013, 2014, 2018, 2020, 2021, 2022, 2023).
