Murdock Takes First in Mile at BU Opener

Shannon Murdock and Danielle Gajewski notch top-four finishes in the mile.

BOSTON – University of New Hampshire seniors Shannon Murdock (Exeter, N.H.) and Danielle Gajewski (Danville, N.H.) both competed in the indoor mile at the BU Season Opener on Saturday morning.

Murdock took first in the event, setting a new personal best in the event. She beat her previous best mark of four minutes, 48.91 seconds with a time of 4:47.77. It was her first competition since December 2^nd of 2017, where she competed in the BU season opener for UNH in the 3000m.

Gajewski followed close behind just seconds off her own personal best in the event with a time of 4:56.94.

At the end of the day Saturday, Shannon Murdock's mile time of 4:47.77 was currently the top collegiate women's indoor mile time, the next closest being Murdock's runner-up Hannah Nuttall of New Mexico.

UP NEXT:
The following weekend, December 7 and 8, the Wildcats head to Dartmouth for the Dartmouth Pentathlon on Friday night and a quad-meet on Saturday featuring Dartmouth, Vermont, and Maine. This will be UNH's final meet before the winter break.
