New Hampshire Travels to Buffalo for NCAA Regionals

The Wildcats take on the Northeast Regional hosted by the University at Buffalo.
DURHAM, N.H. – The University of New Hampshire women's cross country team is gearing up for the 2018 NCAA Northeast Regional meet, hosted by the University at Buffalo this coming Friday, November 9.
The Wildcats will race at 11 A.M. at the Audubon Golf Course in Amherst, with all-conference runner Meg Champagne (Plattsburgh, N.Y.) leading the charge. Champagne was the third Wildcat to finish in last year's regional as the 'Cats notched a ninth place finish with 251 points.
Also returning from last year's meet is Madeline Quigely (Rowley, Mass.) looking for another shot at the regional competition.
The Wildcats will return the rest of the top finisher from the America East meet to compete in the regional meet, including freshman Eleonora Olsmats (Djursholm, Sweden) who was the second Wildcat to cross the finish line in the conference meet.

LAST TIME OUT:
- At the conference meet, Meg Champagne notched a top-10 finish in the 2018 America East Championships, earning All-Conference honors for the third straight year.
- Champagne was the eighth runner to cross the finish line, with a time of 17 minutes, 39.1 seconds, which was seconds away from her previous personal best in the 5K (17:32.3). Champagne's finish was enough to earn her All-Conference honors for her third straight season, earning the designation in her freshman and sophomore seasons as well.
- New Hampshire would finish sixth in the team standings, with ateam score of 157.
- Freshman Eleonora Olsmats was the next Wildcat to cross the finish line, taking 33rd in 18:27.1. beating her old personal best in the 5K by 30 seconds.
- Sophomore Cayla Barretto (Woburn, Mass.) finished 40th with a time of 18:37.6, a new personal best in the 5K.
- Two spots behind her was junior Madeline Quigley taking 42nd in 18:40.5, shaving 10 seconds off her old personal best.
- A pair of Wildcats in the 44th and 45th spots, sophomore Caroline Mahoney (Bedford, N.H.) and freshman Kira Nolan (Richmond, Vt.) finished just 0.8 seconds apart from each other.
- Mahoney's time was 18:44.0, just 0.4 seconds behind her fastest time in the 5K.
- Nolan's time was 18:44.8, 10 seconds faster than her previous best time.
- Rounding out the pack for New Hampshire was another two-pack of Wildcat runners; senior Danielle Gajewski (Danville, N.H.) and sophomore Madeleine Brandon (Killingworth, Conn.) took 49th and 50th, respectively. Gajewski's time of 18:50.9 was a new personal best for her (beating 19:28.7) and Brandon's time of 18:51.7 was also a new PB (beating 19:13.2).
