HIGHLIGHTS
Storey, 6-foot-3, and Ahearn, 6-foot-2, are UNH's starters in the frontcourt.
Neither played last season. Storey was rehabilitating from surgeries following her sophomore season and Ahearn was out due to NCAA regulations as a transfer from Providence College.
Storey made eight of her 14 field goals and Ahearn made seven of 14. Each was perfect from the foul line. Storey made all five of her foul shots and Ahearn made both of hers. Ahearn also had three steals.
Storey's 21 points and Ahearn's 14 rebounds were easily UNH highs for the season.
Storey had 16 points against North Dakota State. Junior guard Caroline Soucy (Beverly, Mass.) led UNH in rebounding with eight against both Minnesota and North Dakota State. Ahearn had four rebounds in each of those games.
HOW IT HAPPENED
Led by Justine Gaziano, who had 29 points in the game, Brown built a 25-20 lead after one period and had it up to 43-29 at the half.
UNH cut the lead back a bit to 58-46 heading into the fourth quarter.
Brown went in front 65-50 with just under eight minutes to play.
The Wildcats began to rally from there. Ahearn led the way with a basket and a pair of foul shots and Torres added a three-point play and UNH got it down to 65-60 with 5:35 to go.
Storey made a couple of foul shots and a layup and it was 67-64 with 2:21 left. Storey answered a Gaziano basket with two more foul shots and it was 69-66 with 1:15 to go.
