UNH is now 3-11 overall and 1-5 in America East. UMass Lowell, which recorded a 3-1 home win against the Wildcats in September, improved to 8-7, 2-5.
UNH goalkeeper Kelsey Rudert (North Grafton, Mass.) made three saves in 65:11; she was pulled in favor of an extra field player the final 4:49. Nicky Bajus (Lions Bay, British Columbia) was credited with a defensive save.
Jenna Berger scored both UML goals and Eva Berkhout stopped six shots.

GAME RECAP
* UMass Lowell controlled possession in the opening 10 minutes of the game but recorded just one shot -- a Katie Lynes shot off a penalty corner that was stopped by Rudert in the fifth minute -- in that span.
* UNH generated a quick counterattack in the 16th minute and, from the right side, Rachel Thomson (Reading, Mass.) blasted a rising line drive that Berkhout knocked aside with her blocker.
* The River Hawks converted a penalty corner into a 1-0 lead at 23:54. Katie Lynes pushed the ball from the top of the circle to the left side, where Brooke Roberts fired a low shot. Berger, who initiated the sequence with the insert, redirected the ball inside the left post.
* In the 27th minute, Katie Audino (Severn, Md.) inserted a short corner to van den Brekel and her low shot was kicked aside by Berkhout.
* With 3:30 remaining in the first half, another UNH corner produced a shot from the top-left side by Kayla Sliz (Ajax, Ontario) that was stopped by Berkhout.
* UNH trailed 1-0 at halftime despite recording the advantage in both shots (4-2) and corners (6-3).
* Three minutes into the second half, Berger's rising reverse stick shot was cleared away off Rudert's blocker and then Torrie Huk's one-timer off the rebound rolled wide right of the cage.
* UMass Lowell generated a 2-on-1 scoring chance. Berger's shot was stopped by Rudert. The River Hawks were awarded a penalty stroke off the rebound, however, and Lynes' shot rolled wide left at 40:44.
* In the 54th minute, UML's quick counterattack sprung Berger behind the Wildcats' defense. She eluded Rudert, who charged off her line to the middle of the circle, but that allowed one defender to block the shot and Bajus to then block it in front of the cage for the defensive save.
* UNH converted a corner into a goal and 1-1 tie at 57:54. The battery of Finn Caron (Hampton, N.H.) and Rachel Bossi (Chelmsford, Mass.) set up van den Brekel, whose direct shot from the top of the circle went inside the right post.
* It took only 79 seconds for the River Hawks to regain the lead, 2-1. Berger gained possession on a tackle outside the circle on the left wing. She carried the ball into the circle and slipped a low shot past the charging Rudert.
* The 'Cats lifted Rudert with 4:49 on the clock and generated a corner with three minutes remaining, but van den Brekel's direct shot sailed wide left.
* UVM did not yield a shot the rest of the way to preserve the victory.
NOTES
* New Hampshire needs to win its last two conference games and UMass Lowell to lose its final America East game to earn the one remaining berth in the America East tournament.
* Bossi is UNH's leader in assists with four.
* It was van den Brekel's second goal of the season.
* It was the first career assist for Caron, who leads the team with nine points.
* Seven of the last eight meetings between UNH and UMass Lowell have been decided by one goal; five ended in a 2-1 score.
