Purrier Wins 1,500 Run, Breaks School Record at Colonial Relays Day Two

WILLIAMSBURG, Va. – Junior Elinor Purrier (Montgomery, Vt.) of the University of New Hampshire women's track & field team broke the program record in the 1,500-meter run with the first-place finish Friday night at Walter J. Zable Stadium.
Purrier's time of 4 minutes, 14.48 seconds sets a school record, previously held by the junior at 4:18.59 (2015). Purrier holds 10 school records, both individually and as a part of a relay. Her time also places her atop the NCAA rankings in the 1,500-meter run this season. Purrier won the event by 1.63 seconds.
The trio of Emma Checovich (North Hampton, N.H.), Danielle Gajewski (Danville, N.H.) and Sarah Keiran (Rowley, Mass.) each turned in 11th place finishes on the afternoon first by Checovich in the 100-meter hurdles with a time of 15.07 followed by Gajewski in the 800-meter run with a time of 2:10.08 and wrapped up by Keiran in the 3,000-meter steeplechase with a run of 10:52.45.
The only other Wildcat competitor was Alex Giese (Franklin, Mass.) who finished the 3,000-meter steeplechase in 10:58.23 for 16th place overall, out of 41 student-athletes.
