Wildcats Upend Bryant Bulldogs, 75-59

Camara, Leissner record double-doubles
DURHAM, N.H. – Tanner Leissner (Converse, Texas) and Iba Camara (Dakar, Senegal) both recorded a double-double to lead the University of New Hampshire men's basketball team to Saturday afternoon's 75-59 victory against Bryant University at Lundholm Gym.
Leissner finished with 19 points and 12 rebounds while Camara tallied 16 points and 13 rebounds to mark the third consecutive game – fifth this season – he has recorded a double-double.
John Ogwuche (Makurdi, Nigeria) tallied a new season high with 12 points, also adding in five rebounds, an assists and a steal. Ogwuche was 2-2 from the charity stripe. Jordan Reed (Lucas, Texas) tallied 10 points and grabbed five rebounds, while dishing four assists. Ogwuche and Reed each had two three-pointers.
Leissner was a perfect 6-6 from the line and added two assists. Camara shot 50% from the field, going 8-16. Overall the Wildcats shot 43% from the field, holding Bryant to 39%.

THE DIFFERENCE
- The Wildcats never trailed once in the game, pushing their largest lead to 16 by the end of the game.
- Bryant cut the lead to six points on five occasions and five points on one occasion, but each time the Wildcats responded with a run of their own.
- UNH outrebounded Bryant 47-22 overall, with 15 offensive rebounds to two. The Wildcats had 16 second chance points, the Bulldogs had three.
GAME RECAP
- UNH won the opening tip and Reed hit a 3-pointer to spark a 7-0 run to start the game.
- Grant's jumper got Bryant in the scoring column at 18:02, but the Wildcats scored the next eight points to build a 15-2 advantage. Reed and Hopkins both hit a 3-pointer as part of the run.
- Ogwuche connected from beyond the 3-point arc to end a nearly three-minute scoring drought for both teams to give the 'Cats a 26-14 lead at 8:19.
- Kostur's layup trimmed the deficit to five points, 28-23, at 4:50 and that prompted a New Hampshire timeout.
- A layup by Leissner followed by another Ogwuche 3-pointer pushed the lead back to double digits, 33-23, at 3:53.
- Out of the next media timeout at 3:08, Armstrong buried the Wildcats' first two free throw attempts of the game to extend the advantage to 35-23.
- Grant's three-point play and Carroll's 3-pointer lifted the Bulldogs within 35-29 with 1:19 remaining in the first half.
- David Wakins (Dorchester, Mass.) hit a jumper from the left elbow with 50 seconds on the clock to give the 'Cats a 37-29 lead heading into halftime.
- The teams traded baskets in the opening two minutes of the second half – Camara accounted for both UNH field goals – to advance the score to 41-33, then Reed and Leissner made layups to reestablish a 12-point cushion, 45-33, heading into the media timeout at 15:46.
- Bryant's 8-2 run, capped by Kostur's three-point play at 12:30, lifted the visitors within 47-41.
- A 3-pointer by Keon Burns (Beaverton, Ore.) extended the margin to 52-43 and that was the score at the next media timeout at 11:09.
- Ndugba hit a pair of foul shots out of that break, but Camara answered with a layup, then Leissner hit a 3-pointer and layup to build the largest lead of the game -- 14 points – and Bryant called time out trailing 59-45.
- The Bulldogs inched within 59-47 on Riley's basket from close range and Ndugba's 3-pointer trimmed the deficit to single digits, 59-50, at 7:30.
- Leissner's layup reestablished a double-digit lead but Riley hit a 3-pointer at the other end of the court to shrink the margin to 61-53 with 5:47 to play.
- The Bulldogs closed within six points, 61-55, on Grant's jumper at 5:29 but Leissner made two free throws at 4:26 and Camara's layup at 3:57 once again pushed the advantage back to double figures, 65-55.
- Bryant called a timeout, but committed a turnover and Camara scored from close range for a 67-55 lead at 2:58.
- Riley's 3-pointer made it a 10-point differential, 69-59, at 1:42 but the Wildcats went 6-for-6 from the foul line the rest of the way to secure the victory.
INSIDE THE NUMBERS
- UNH made 14 of 33 field goal attempts in the first half (42%) and that included 7 of 15 3-pointers (47%). Bryant shot 37% in the first half (10 of 27) with 5-for-14 shooting (36%) from 3-point range.
- Both teams committed four first-half turnovers with the 'Cats holding a 22-14 edge in rebounds.
- UNH led in points in the paint, 30 points to Bryant's 14.

- Camara has a team-high five double-doubles this season and 21 in his career.
- Camara has recorded double-digit rebounds in 33 games.
