Team Ups Record to 6-1-3 with Win in Mental Health Awareness Game
DURHAM, N.H. – Senior defenseman Amy Schlagel (Blaine, Minn.) scored a pair of goals to lift the University of New Hampshire women's hockey team to a 6-2 win over Vermont on Saturday in front of a crowd of 581 at the Whittemore Center for a "Stick it to Stigma" Mental Health Awareness Game.
The Wildcats wrapped up a three-point weekend in Hockey East and improved to 6-1-3 overall and 4-1-3 in the league. UNH and Vermont played to a 2-2 tie Friday night in the Whittemore Center.
Sophomore center Carlee Turner (Scottsdale, Ariz.), who scored the two UNH goals on Friday night, had another goal and had a pair of assists on Saturday. Turner assisted on both of Schlagel's goals.
Schlagel scored her second goal of the night 43 seconds into the second period and that one stood as the game-winner, her team-leading second of the season.
Freshman Ava Boutilier (Charlottetown, Prince Edward Island) made 39 saves for her sixth win of the season.

GAME RECAP
- Senior defender Amy Schlagel put the Wildcats on the board first when a slap shot from the blue line found the back of the net at 4:33 in the first period. Sophomore forwards Carlee Turner and Taylor Wenczkowski tallied assists on the goal.
- Junior forward Devan Taylor increased the lead with a wrist shot from the slot at 9:07 in the first period. Senior forward Ali Praus added an assist.
- Freshman forward Ellie Sasaki recorded her first career goal during a power play after grabbing a pass from senior defender Julia Fedeski in front of the net at 18:30 in the first period.
- Schlagel recorded her second of the day during 4-on-4 action off of a pass from Turner from in front at 19:17 of the second period. Sophomore forward Tori Howran also recorded an assist on the goal.
- Turner's power play goal with assists to Nicole Dunbar and Wenczkowski opened UNH's lead to 5-0 just 59 seconds into the third period.
- Daria O'Neill scored Vermont's first goal at 5:55 of the third period.
- Mackenzie MacNeil's power play less than a minute later cut UNH's lead to 5-2.
- UNH freshman forward Grace Middleton finished the scoring with 11:07 left.
