1st Half
- NU pressured in the opening five minutes and it resulted in a 1-0 lead at 5:16. Kellie Stigas moved the ball from the middle of the circle to June Curry-Lindahl low on the left side and she fired a reverse-stick shot into the cage.
- In the eighth minute, UNH generated a penalty corner. Jessica Schmidt (Warrington, Pa.) fired the ball intentionally wide right of the cage looking for a redirection off the stick of Rachel Bossi (Chelmsford, Mass.) but it was just out of her reach and rolled across the end line.
- Three minutes later, Bossi maneuvered along the right endline. Her centering pass found Rachel Thomson (Reading, Mass.), who was denied twice from pointblank range by NU goalkeeper Becky Garner.
- With 15 minutes left in the first half, Lindsey Nerbonne (Bow, N.H.) corralled the ball in the middle of the circle, turned and slid a shot wide of the left post.
- With 10 minutes on the clock, Katie Audino (Severn, Md.) collected the entry pass at the top of the circle and fired a low shot that went wide right.
- The Wildcats were shorthanded in the 30th minute when Mendonca attacked in transition and blasted a low shot that was kicked aside by Garner.
- UNH threatened again in the closing minute as Gianna Bensaia (Yorktown Heights, N.Y.) carried the ball to the top of the circle, where her rising shot was blocked away by Garner.
- After Northeastern's goal, UNH recorded a 9-6 shot advantage the rest of the half.
2nd Half
- UNH called time out at 49:15. In that 14-plus minutes of second-half action, both teams had just one shot and neither team had a corner.
- Northeastern responded with a goal less than a minute later to take a 2-0 lead at 50:12. Kristin Abreu maneuvered around a defender on the right wing and her low blast toward the goalmouth was redirected into the cage by Jamie Bartucca.
- The Huskies converted their fifth corner of the game into a 3-0 lead on Jessica Unger's goal at 58:44.
- A strong individual effort by Mendonca trimmed the deficit to 3-1 at 63:05. She advanced across the 25 into the top of the circle and chipped a rising reverse-stick shot inside the right side.
- New Hampshire recorded an 8-7 shot advantage in the second half, but the home team had the 3-1 edge in corners.
- NU's Garner finished with nine saves, including six in the first half.
'CAT NIPS
