DURHAM, N.H. – The University of New Hampshire men's cross country team travels to Stony Brook University for the Wolfie Invitational on Saturday, Sept. 12 (11:15 a.m.).
New Hampshire will compete in an 8K race against Stony Brook, Binghamton University and the University of Maryland, Baltimore County. The 2015 America East Cross Country Championship (Oct. 31) will be held on the same course, which makes Saturday's meet an opportunity for conference schools to get accustomed to the championship course's conditions prior to the title meet.
LAST TIME OUT
The Wildcats concluded their only home meet of the season Saturday, Sept. 5, when the team placed second (54 points) against Providence College and the College of the Holy Cross.
TOP-7 WILDCATS LAST TIME OUT
CAPTAIN McCARTHY
McCarthy aims to propel the team to another top finish after placing seventh overall to lead all Wildcats last weekend. The lone captain placed 44th in the 8K race at the 2014 America East Cross Country Championships and finished 170th in the 10K run at the 2014 NCAA Division I Northeast Region Cross Country Championships.
FRESHMEN FLOURISH
Geraci and Symonds look to grow following impressive performances in their first collegiate meet. Geraci took eighth place and was the second fastest UNH runner to start the season, while Symonds placed 13th and finished fourth out of all Wildcats.
CHIESA AND DUTTON
Dutton enters Saturday's race following an 18th place finish in the season opener. The junior placed 49th in last year's America East Championships and competed at the NCAAs, where he finished 210th.
Chiesa grabbed the 15th spot overall and finished fifth among Wildcat runners. Last season, the sophomore recorded his best finish in UNH's dual meet with UMaine, as he placed eighth in the 5-mile event with a time of 27:19.6.
New Hampshire hits the road again when it heads to UMaine to take on the Black Bears on Sept. 18 at 3 p.m.
