'Cats Take Sixth at New England Championships

Hooper, Murphy, Malark all place in top-25 at Hopkinton State Fairgrounds
HOPKINTON, N.H. – Seniors Zachary Hooper (Concord, N.H.) and John Murphy (Deerfield, N.H.) finished back-to-back Friday afternoon to lead the UNH men's cross country team to sixth place in the men's 8K at the 2025 New England Cross Country Championships at the Hopkinton State Fairgrounds.
In a field of 235 runners, Hooper's 19th-place time of 24 minutes, 57.05 seconds (19 points) edged Murphy's 20th-place finish of 24:59.03 (20 points) to pace the Wildcats. Sophomore Gavin Malark (Stratham, N.H.) placed 24th (25:03.92/24 points).
Rhode Island won the race with 60 points, followed by UMass (106 points), Maine (112), Holy Cross (115), Stonehill (148) and UNH (158). There were 28 teams in total.
