Ashley Mendonca '18 joined the UNH field hockey staff as an assistant coach in 2018. Mendonca started all 80 Wildcat games spanning the 2014-17 seasons and was a steadying force for UNH’s defensive corps, as well as being an integral part of both the offensive and defensive penalty corner units. Her career statistics included 16 goals and 14 assists for 46 points, as well as eight defensive saves.

Mendonca was named to the Longstreth/NFHCA Northeast Region Second Team in 2016 and 2017. Mendonca’s other collegiate accolades included America East East Division All-Conference Team (2016) and All-Rookie Team (2014).
As a senior captain in ’17, Mendonca recorded a team-high three defensive saves, ranked second on the team in assists (six) and scored two goals for a total of 10 points; she was also second in shots with 39.

Mendonca recorded a point all three games of the 2017 America East Championships to help lead the Wildcats to a runner-up finish in the tourney and earn All-Championship Team recognition. She matched her personal best of two assists in the quarterfinal win vs. Cal and had another assist in the 2-1 semifinal win against nationally-ranked UAlbany. She ended the 2017 season – and her career – with a goal vs. nationally-ranked Stanford in the title game.
As a junior, Mendonca had a breakout offensive year in which tied for first on the team in points (27) and ranked second in goals (12); she scored a team-high three game-winning goals, was second in shots and credited with two defensive saves.
