Wildcats improve to 4-0-1 over last five games

AMHERST, Mass. – Junior midfielder Lukas Kuca (Prague, Czech Republic) scored the game winner and sophomore goalkeeper Aaron Choi (Stow, Mass) recorded his first collegiate clean sheet as the University of New Hampshire men's soccer team defeated UMass, 1-0, on Saturday afternoon at Rudd Field in non-conference action. The Wildcats are now 4-0-1 over their last five games.

Choi made a career-best five saves to secure his first shutout.

The Wildcats improve to 4-1-1 overall, while the Minutemen fall to 2-3-1.

HOW IT HAPPENED:

The first half went scoreless as each team took one shot on goal, while the Minutemen posted four total shots and the Wildcats recorded two.
The Wildcats earned a scoring opportunity in the 64th minute when a shot by junior captain Max Voigt (Oberkotzau, Germany) from 20 yards out was saved by UMass goalkeeper Dean Linden.
The 'Cats then scored the game winner in the 69th minute (69:00) when Kuca sent a header to the upper right corner of the net off a rebound from a penalty kick by senior midfielder Ryo Miyata (Yokohama, Japan).
Choi and the Wildcat defense held strong for the 1-0 win.
