Jacky Mendes returns to the University of New Hampshire after three years as head coach for the Merrimack College track and field program.
Mendes’ teams saw great success in her career at Merrimack. In just her second season with Merrimack, she coached the program’s first national champion and brought several more athletes to the Indoor Nationals in 2016. She also had two All-Americans, as she led the team to program best finishes at the Northeast-10 Conference Championships, along with several new school record holders. In total between indoor and outdoor, Mendes coached six individual national title winners and eight All-Americans on the women’s team, and three All-Americans on the men’s team.
Mendes, a 2012 graduate of UNH, was a four-year letter winner in both indoor and outdoor women’s track and field, and also served as a captain to those teams. Her school record in the pentathlon, 3485 points, was set in 2011 and still stands to this day.
Mendes will serve as an assistant coach to both the men’s and women’s track and field teams at UNH, focusing on jumps, multi events, and sprints.
A Dayton, Maine, native, Mendes currently resides in Methuen, Massachusetts.
