BOSTON – Grad student Claire Ronan (Port Jefferson Station, N.Y.) and sophomore Ruth White (Orono, Maine) of the University of New Hampshire were named to the 2026 America East Women's Outdoor Track & Field All-Academic Team on Tuesday.
UNH's two honorees tied for the second highest number of representatives on the 10-member team with one other school. Combined with two selections on the Men's All-Academic Team, the Wildcats' total of four tied for highest of any conference school.
To be eligible for the All-Academic Team, a student-athlete must have sophomore athletic eligibility, a 3.30 or higher GPA and competed in at least five meets during the 2026 outdoor season.
Ronan, who earned a graduate degree in Kinesiology with a 4.0 GPA after recording a 3.66 GPA while attaining a Psychology degree, is a three-time All-Academic Team honoree. She was voted to the Indoor Track & Field All-Academic Team in both 2025 and 2026.
Ronan successfully defended her 1,500 meter conference title with a personal-best time of 4 minutes, 24.89 seconds at the America East Championship meet – that time was also the fastest by any conference runner in the 2026 outdoor season. She became the first woman to win consecutive 1,500m titles since UNH two-time Olympian and Hall of Fame inductee Elle Purrier in 2015 and '16.
Ronan raced to first place at the Virginia Challenge, where a field of 86 runners included multiple Power 4 schools. Her other highlights included second place (63 runners) in the 1,500m at the Jaylin Rainford Invitational and fifth place (60 runners) at the Jay Carisella and Joe Donahue Coaches Invitational.
Ronan has made the America East Commissioner's Honor Roll seven times with a breakdown of three in cross country (2023-25) and four in track & field (2022-25), and she made the 2022 Honor Roll in cross country.
White, a mechanical engineer major with a 3.98 GPA, finished the 2026 outdoor season as an All-America Honorable Mention with a 22nd-place finish at the NCAA Championships. She advanced to the NCAAs by finishing ninth at the NCAA East First Round with a season-best time of 33:08.83; she entered the race seeded 27th.
White was named the America East Track Athlete of the Week on April 14 after she broke the 5,000m school record with a time of 16:03.28 at the Friar Invitational. She won the 5,000m at both UNH home meets this season – the Jim Boulanger Invitational in early April and UNH Wildcat Invitational later that month.
She went on to earn a silver medal at the America East Championship with a second-place effort in the 10,000m.
White has made the America East Commissioner's Honor Roll all three times – 2024 and 2025 cross country and 2025 track & field. She was named the America East Outdoor Track Performer of the Year in 2025.
White was named to the 2026 College Sports Communicators Women's Cross Country/Track & Field Academic All-District Team on Tuesday.
