DURHAM, N.H. — The United States Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA) released their first set of weekly rankings for the 2026 season on Tuesday (Jan. 27), with the University of New Hampshire men's weight throw unit opening their campaign ranking seventh in the country.
In the Wildcats' dual meet against Bryant, senior Yoofi Abaka-Amuah (Worcester, Mass.) turned in a meet-leading 20.93m mark, good for the 29th-best performance in the NCAA this season and earning first place in the event while pacing the 'Cats in weight throw. Rounding out the Wildcats' top performers in the weight throw this season are seniors Liam McGovern (North Kingstown, R.I.) (19.97m), Caden Zalenski (Milford, N.H.) (19.59m), and Jack Washam (Nashua, N.H.) (17.73m).
The USTFCCCA national and regional polls are released weekly and rank NCAA track & field and cross-country teams based on coaches' votes. In addition to overall team rankings, the polls also evaluate performance within individual event groups, highlighting strength and depth across specific areas such as sprints, distance, jumps, and throws throughout the season.
