Juodikis Scores Twice in 4-3 Overtime Loss at Providence

PROVIDENCE, R.I. – Sophomore goaltender Sedona Blair (Eden Prairie, Minn.) made 42 saves and senior captain Kira Juodikis (LaSalle, Ontario) scored two goals but the University of New Hampshire women's hockey team was toppled 4-3 in overtime by Providence College at Schneider Arena on Saturday afternoon.
Blair, who made a career-high 43 saves in Friday's 1-0 win at Holy Cross, stopped 16 shots in the first period, 14 in the second and eight in the third, as well as four in the extra session.
Grad student assistant captain Chavonne Truter (Uxbridge, Ontario) scored UNH's other goal.
Audrey Knapp scored two goals for PC and Brooke Becker, who ended the game at 3:09 of overtime, also finished with two points. Hope Walinski was credited with 11 saves, including three in OT.
UNH moves to 13-14-1 overall and 9-12-0 in Hockey East while PC is now 16-9-3, 12-7-2.

- Providence recorded an 18-3 shot advantage and built a 2-0 lead in the opening 20 minutes.
- Following a turnover in UNH's defensive zone, Blair lost her stick and moments later Lily Hendrikson's shot from the right point was redirected in by Kraft.
- Knapp scored off the rebound at 13:14 to give the Friars a 2-0 lead.

- The home team recorded a 14-4 shot advantage in the second period but UNH scored the only two goals to level the score, 2-2.
- Juodikis lifted UNH within 2-1 at 6:39. The initial shot by Julia Cabral (Lee, N.H.) went wide of the right post. Juodkis kicked the puck back to herself before turning and firing a shot inside the near post. Sara Boucher (Burlington, Ontario) was credited with the secondary assist.
- Juodikis tied the score at 12:01 when her redirection from the slot went low inside the right post. Lucie Legros (Brentwood, N.H.), with the shot from the left point, and Addy Finn (Stillwater, Minn.) were credited with the assists.

- PC generated a 17-13 shot advantage in the third period as both teams scored a goal to advance the game beyond regulation.
- UNH converted its second power play of the game into a goal and 2-2 tie at 6:36. Sadie Makokis (St. Albert, Alberta) moved the puck from the high slot to the right circle, where Callista Printz (Buffalo, N.Y.) snapped a wrist shot that deflected off Truter into the cage.
- PC pulled Walinski in favor of an extra skater with 2:32 remaining and tied the score on Knapp's screened shot from the high slot with 1:31 on the clock.
- With 50 seconds left, there was a scrum in front of the PC net and Boucher's point-blank shot was stopped and covered by Walinski.
- Truter, deep in the right circle, attacked the net and backhanded a shot wide of the far post with three seconds to play.

- Blair made a pair of saves in the first minute of overtime and two more in the next minute to extend the game.
- Boucher and Shea Verrier (Reading, Mass.) were denied by Walinski at 2:08 and 2:53, respectively.
- Becker entered the offensive zone at the high slot and blasted a shot that sailed wide of the right post and a hard rebound off the end boards came out to the right doorstep. Becker won the race to the puck and chipped a shot into the net to end the game at 3:09.

- Blair extended her streak of consecutive periods with 10+ saves to four with 16 in the first period and 14 in the second. Friday at Holy Cross, she tallied 16 saves in the second period and 19 in the third as part of her career-high 43 saves.
- Blair has nine games this season with 30+ saves.
- In two games this weekend, Blair stopped 85 of 89 shots for a .955 save percentage.
- This was Juodikis' second multiple-goal game of the season.
