Blume repeats as Diver of Week, record-setting Mahoney named Swimmer of Week
BOSTON – The UNH women's swimming and diving team collected two weekly conference awards Tuesday, as junior Grace Blume (Dedham, Mass.) was named the America East Diver of the Week for the second consecutive time, and senior captain Audrey Mahoney (Downers Grove, Ill.) parlayed last Friday's record-setting 50-yard freestyle performance into the America East Swimmer of the Week award.
In the Wildcats' 243-110 Family Weekend (Oct. 24-25) victory against Central Connecticut State, Blume won the 1-meter dive (288.75 points) by 37.05 points and captured the 3-meter dive (269.93) by 38.78 points. The Dedham, Mass., native has placed first in all four of her dives through UNH's first two meets of the season.
On Friday, Mahoney won the 50-free in 22.98 seconds to set the Swasey Pool Record, beating the former mark of 23.52 set by Dover native and former U.S. Olympian Jenny Thompson in 1990. Mahoney also placed first in the 100-yard freestyle (51.80 seconds) and anchored two winning relays, the 400-yard medley with a 51.66 split, and the 200-yard medley with a 28.13 split.
This marks the fourth career weekly conference honor for Blume and third career AE weekly honor for Mahoney.
