Poulakis Selected to Field Hockey Canada Jr. National Team for World Cup

RICHMOND, British Columbia – Nicole Poulakis (Ajax, Ontario), a senior captain on the University of New Hampshire field hockey team, has been selected to Canada's Junior Women's National Team that will compete at the 2025 FIH Hockey Women's Junior World Cup.
The tournament will be held Dec. 1-13 in Santiago, Chile at the Centro Deportivo de Hockey Césped. The tourney features 24 under-21 national teams with Canada looking to extend back-to-back World Cup qualifications out of Pool E with Australia, Spain and Scotland.

This past July and August, Poulakis was part of the Field Hockey Canada Women's National Team that competed at the Pan American Games in Uruguay. She had a memorable national team debut by scoring three goals in her first cap to lead Team Canada to a 7-0 win against Paraguay.
Poulakis had previously been named an alternate for the Field Hockey Canada Women's National Team that competed at the 2025 FIH Nations Cup in Chile from February to March.
Poulakis was selected to the Junior Women's National team this past June. She was a star player on Team Canada at the 2024 Junior Pan America Championships. She has also been a member of the Team Canada Indoor National Program and played at the Indoor Pan Ams in 2021.
In her 2025 senior season as a UNH Wildcat, Poulakis is ranked #2 in the nation in points per game and #5 in goals per game with 16 goals and seven assists for 39 points in 13 games. She was named the America East Offensive Player of the Week for the second consecutive week this past Tuesday, and she has received that honor three times overall this season.
Poulakis has an active four-game goal streak and 10-game point streak when New Hampshire returns to action Oct. 24 (2pm) at UAlbany. The Wildcats next home game is the regular-season finale, a Senior Day matchup vs. Bryant University on Oct. 30 (3pm).
