'Cats Finish Strong on Senior Day

DURHAM, N.H. – The University of New Hampshire men's track and field team returned home to Durham for the final meet before conference championships. The 'Cats competed from Friday April 26 to Saturday, April 27. Saturday was also Senior Day in which the members of our 2024 graduating men's and women's teams were celebrated.
Director of Cross Country/Track and Field Anna Magle-Haberek had this to say about the seniors "It was wonderful to celebrate our amazing seniors today. These athletes have given so much to the program during the last several years. We will miss them dearly, but wish them the best of luck in their futures."

Sophomore Liam McGovern (North Kingstown, R.I.) and Senior Andrew Fleming (Acton, Mass.) placed first and second respectively in the men's hammer throw, both recording PRs with distances of 63.83m and 59.55 respectively.

Sophomore Jayson Blaisdell (Barrington, N.H.) set a new PR in the javelin throw with a distance of 58.27m.

Sophomore Yoofi Abaka-Amuah (Worcester, Mass.) took third in the shot put with a distance of 16.23m

Senior Joshua Hoffman (Litchfield, N.H.) secured second in the discus throw with a distance of 49.96m.

Freshman Marco DeMeo (New Hope, Pa.) and senior Andrew Kelly (Portsmouth, N.H.) took first with a PR and second in the high jump respectively, clearing distances of 1.93m and 1.92m

Sophomore Kyran Maher (Andover, Mass.) placed second in the pole vault securing a PR of 4.55m.

Freshman Gunnar Sokol (Berwick, Maine) took second in the long jump with a distance of 6.83m.

The 4x100 team consisting of Adrian Sutton (Rochester, N.H.), Nathan Fletcher (Portsmouth, N.H.), Michael Mulcahy (Weymouth, Mass.) and Sokol took first with a time of 42.01.

Sophomore John Murphy (Deerfield, N.H.) secured a third place finish in the 1500m run, clocking in a time of 3:57.32.

Junior Kevin Finn (Kennebunk, Maine) and Freshman Julian Rime (New City, N.Y.) took first and second respectively in the men's 800m run with times of 1:53.10 and 1:53.68. Finn and Rime both recorded PRs.

Fletcher also took first in the 200m dash with a huge PR time of 22.03.
Next Up
The 'Cats will return to action May 4-5 where they will be competing in the America East outdoor championships, hosted by UMBC.
