Hayden Dahl earns first career podium with third-place finish in the slalom
CRAFTSBURY, Vt./BURKE, Vt. – Senior captain Luci Anderson (Golden Valley, Minn.) won the 7.5K freestyle and senior Hayden Dahl (Plymouth, N.H.) placed third in the slalom to lead the University of New Hampshire ski team on Day 2 of the Harvard Carnival at Craftsbury and Burke Mountain.
The women's team was second in the 7.5K freestyle with 107 points, while the men's team was eighth with 63 points. The men's Alpine team placed second in the slalom with 117 points and the women's team posted a fourth-place finish with 71 points.
UNH is currently in third place overall out of 14 teams with 552 points. Vermont leads the carnival with 665.5 points, while Dartmouth is second (568), Colby is fourth (476) and Middlebury is fifth (432).
The Harvard Carnival will conclude on Sunday, Feb. 4 with the giant slalom.

Luci Anderson captured her fifth career first place finish and her eighth career podium with a time of 18:11 earning 50 points. Sophomore Hattie Barker (Underhill, Vt.) secured 31 points placing ninth (18:53) and senior Lea Stabaek Wenaas (Oslo, Norway) tallied 26 points at 15th (19:10). Sophomore Emma Charles (Farmington, Maine) also finished in the top 20 at 18th (19:24).
On the men's side in the 7.5K freestyle, graduate student Charles Martell (Exeter, N.H.) picked up 23 points as he placed 18th (17:08). Junior Roger Anderson (Golden Valley, Minn.) totaled 21 points at 22nd (17:17), while junior Eli Gore (Madison, Wis.) recorded 19 points at 25th (17:27).
The men's Alpine team had three athletes record top 10 finishes. Dahl placed third (1:26.15) in the slalom earning his first career podium and gaining 44 points. Graduate student Hunter Brayton (Waterville Valley, N.H.) posted a career-best fifth place finish (1:26.42) for 39 points and sophomore Isac Hedström (Are, Sweden) tied for seventh (1:26.66) and picked up 34 points.
Junior Zoe Michael (Sydney, Australia) led the women's team as she tied for ninth (1:31.85) earning 32 points. Graduate student Cassie Lieblein (Harrisburg, Pa.) was 11th (1:32.12) securing 30 points and freshman Shelby Graves (Spofford, N.H.) was 42nd (1:38.81) and posted nine points.
