Moore Breaks UNH Long Jump Record in Season Opener at Alden Invite

PROVIDENCE, R.I. – Freshman Sarah Moore (Lisbon, Maine) broke the school record in the long jump to highlight the University of New Hampshire women's track & field team's third-place finish in Saturday's season opener at the Alden Invitational that was held at Brown University's Olney-Margolies Athletic Center.
In her collegiate debut, Moore recorded her benchmark of 19-feet, 1.25 inches on the last of her six jumps to earn second place and eight points for the Wildcats. She broke the record established in 2022 by teammate Olivia Chamberlain.
Moore also raced to fifth place in the 60-meter dash with a time of 7.78 seconds to add four more points to the team score.
UNH earned 82.5 points to finish behind Brown (148 points) and Holy Cross (117.5) in the seven-team meet.
Freshmen Emma Reaves (Westminster, Md.) and Ruth White (Orono, Maine) both recorded a first-place finish. Reaves bested the field in the shot put with a throw of 43-7 and White was the top competitor in the 3,000m by crossing the finish line in 9:56.41.
Reaves also earned points with fifth place in the shot put with a mark of 53-5.50.
Classmate Mariam Nada (Portsmouth, N.H.) had a pair of top-five efforts with third place in the 60m (7.74) fifth in the long jump (18-2.50).
Sophomore Ronnie Jones (Lowell, Mass.) excelled in the throws with a runner-up finish in the shot put with a distance of 42-5.50 and sixth place in the weight throw at 52.750.
