Ruth White Sets Facility Record in Women’s 5000 Meter Run, Wildcats Place First in Bates Invitational

LEWISTON, Maine – Freshman Ruth White (Orono, Maine) set the facility record in the Women's 5000 Meter Run as the women's track and field team finished in first place at the Bates Invitational.
White won the 5000-meter run with a facility record of 16:46.40. (2:37.89 faster than competition).
"I am really excited about our performance today - we brought home wins in nearly every event," Director of Cross Country/Track and Field Anna Magle Haberek said. "Ruth White setting a facility record and personal record in the first meet of the day really set the team up. Overall they performed really well. We are happy to be back from break and looking forward to the rest of our indoor season."

UNH returns to action Jan. 24-25 at the River Hawk Invite. The Wildcats' first and only home meet of the indoor track & field season is Feb. 12, 2025, against UMass Lowell at the Paul Sweet Oval.

- Freshman Sarah Moore (Lisbon, Maine) won three events - High Jump (1.67m), 60 Meter Dash (7.82 - Bates Invitational Record), 4x200 Meter Relay (1:46.54)
- Freshman Mariam Nada (Portsmouth, N.H.) won three events - 60 Meter Hurdles (9.18), 200 Meter Dash (26.21), 4x200 Meter Relay (1:46.54)
- Sophomore Ronnie Jones (Lowell, Mass.) won two events - Shot Put (42-3.50) and Weight Throw (55-8.00).
- Senior Olivia Chamberlain (Warnerville, N.Y.) won two events - Long Jump (17-6.25) and Triple Jump (35-10.75)
- Junior Liliana Chirichella (Troy, N.H.) won two events - 400 Meter Dash (1:01.31), and 4x200 Meter Relay (1:46.54)
