DURHAM, N.H. - First-year head coach Megan Shoniker and the University of New Hampshire women's basketball program are excited to announce the commitments of Averie Harding (Egg Harbor, N.J.) and Carolina Williams (Valatie, N.Y.) to join the Wildcats starting in the 2025-26 season.
Harding, a 6-2 forward, averaged 16.6 points, 8.6 rebounds, and 1.4 steals per game as a junior at Egg Harbor High School, where she has accumulated 925 career points through three seasons and is poised to surpass 1,000 points this year. She competes for the Comets AAU program and is also a standout volleyball player.
"Averie is a versatile post player that will bring size and athleticism to our team," Shoniker said. "She runs the floor with ease, can rebound out of her area, and can score inside and outside. She has just started to scratch the surface of the player she can be, and I cannot wait to watch her develop over the next few years. Above all else, Averie has an infectious personality that directly aligns with the culture we have established that will be great on the court, in the locker room and in the community."
Williams, a 5-8 guard, began her high school career at Ichabod Crane High School. She scored 1,017 points in two years and averaged an impressive 25.7 points per game as a sophomore. During her junior year at Hoosac School she posted averages of 14 points, five rebounds, three assists, and 1.4 steals per game while shooting 47% from three-point range. She plays her AAU ball for the Albany Capitals and is also a cross country runner.
"We are extremely excited to have Lina joining our Wildcat Family," Shoniker said. "Lina is a floor general with an extremely high IQ and a fundamentally sound skill set. She makes others around her better but can also get into the paint and create for herself as well. My favorite thing about Lina is how much she loves the game and loves to work. She is a basketball junkie, a gym rat, and excels in the classroom as well."
Harding and Williams mark the first recruiting class under Coach Shoniker and her staff. This talented duo is poised to make a significant impact on the future of the Wildcats program, and the coaching staff is eager to see how their contributions will shape the team moving forward.
