Blair Records 36 Saves in 2-0 Loss at #9 UConn

STORRS, Conn. – Sophomore goalie Sedona Blair (Prairie View, Minn.) made 36 saves but the University of New Hampshire women's hockey team was defeated 2-0 by ninth-ranked UConn at Toscano Family Ice Forum on Saturday night.
Blair stopped 14 shots in the first period, followed by 10 in the second and 12 in the third.
UConn goalie Tia Chan was credited with 25 saves, 15 of which came in the last 20 minutes. Claire Murdoch and Maya Serdachny scored the Huskies' goals.
UNH moves to 1-2-1 overall and 0-2-0 in Hockey East while UConn is 3-4-0, 2-0-0.

FIRST PERIOD
- UConn recorded a 14-4 shot advantage in the scoreless opening 20 minutes.
- Blair held the home team scoreless on a pair of power plays in the first period.
SECOND PERIOD
- Serdahny gave the Huskies a 1-0 lead at 1:53 and Murdoch extended the advantage to 2-0 at 11:51.
- Both teams went 0-for-1 on the power play in the second stanza.
THIRD PERIOD
- UNH recorded a 15-12 shot advantage in the scoreless final frame.
- Once again, both teams had one power play in the third period.
- The Wildcats went on the power play at 16:59 and pulled Blair at 17:55 to create a two-skater advantage, but the 'Cats did not generate a shot on goal.
- Blair reentered at 19:01 and returned to the bench eight seconds later.
- Chan turned aside a shot by Andi Calderone (Kirkland, Quebec) with 11 seconds left to preserve the shutout.,
UNH NOTEBOOK
- Shea Verrier (Reading, Mass.) led UNH with eight faceoff wins.
- Sydney Leonard (St. Bonifacius, Minn.) won 6 of 8 faceoffs.
- Sara Boucher (Burlington, Ontario), Kelly Harty (Billerica, Mass.) and Chavonne Truter (Uxbridge, Ontario) each recorded two blocks.
SERIES NOTEBOOK
