'Cats Defeat Maine in Border Battle

DURHAM, N.H. – The UNH men's track and field team hosted the University of Maine for the famous Border Battle, presented by Buffalo Wild Wings. The team placed first over Maine posting a score of 106. This is the first and only home meet for UNH during the indoor season. UNH also hosted the second annual Alumni Mile Race. Which saw alumni of all ages and skill levels from both M&W Track and Field and Cross Country compete in a professionally timed mile race. Cody Symonds won the Men's Alumni Mile with a time of 4:28.06.

Event Notebook

Freshman Gunnar Sokol (Berwick, Maine) placed first in the 55-meter dash, recording a time of 6.57 seconds.
Junior Aidan Shea (Amherst, Mass.) won the 1000-meter run finishing in 2:28.78.
Graduate student Aidan O'Hern (Concord, N.H.) finished first in the mile race with a time of 4:11.39.
Sophomore Yoofi Abaka-Amuah (Worcester, Mass.) recorded first-place throws in both the shot put and weight throw with distances of 16.98m. and 19.18m respectively.

Next Up

The 'Cats will return to action Jan. 26-27 where they will be competing in both the River Hawk and Terrier invitationals, hosted by UMass Lowell and Boston University, respectively.
