COACH'S QUOTE
"I was very pleased with our overall play," UNH head coach Robin Balducci said. "We Generated a lot of shots and a lot of corners. It was a little rough that we didn't put a few more in. They have a good goalie and some dangerous players on attack, and that came back to hurt us.
"We saw a lot of things in a first game of the season: pulling goalie; coming back; freshman played big minutes. All these things will pay off down the road."
FIRST QUARTER
- UNH dominated the opening 15 minutes with a 9-1 shot advantage and 4-1 edge in penalty corners.
- The Wildcats took an early 1-0 lead on Tasmin Cookman's goal at 4:18. The entry pass by Addison MacNeil (Brentwood, N.H.) from the left wing was corralled in the middle of the circle by Cookman, who fired a reverse-stick shot into the cage.
SECOND QUARTER
- UNH had a 5-4 shot advantage and the corners were even, 1-1, in the scoreless second quarter.
THIRD QUARTER
- The Wildcats once again recorded a 5-4 shot advantage, but is was the Bobcats who scored three times to take a 3-2 lead through 45 minutes.
- QU tied the score, 1-1, at 31:40 when Massarelli's reverse-stick from the left side sailed under the crossbar.
- She struck again 73 seconds later by jamming the ball inside the left post to give the visitors a 2-1 lead.
- UNH converted a corner into a goal to tie the game, 2-2, at 34:44. Lindsay Lee (Eindhoven, Netherland) inserted the ball to the top of the circle for Petiet and Tamera Cookman's shot went directly into the cage.
- In the 37th minute, Tamera Cookman ripped a shot from the top-right of the circle that ricocheted off the near post.
- Massarelli put Quinnipiac back on top, 3-2, at 38:13 when she collected a pass at the top-right of the circle, dribbled to the top and sent a shot into the cage.
- UNH was denied by the right post again in the 41st minute when Nicole Poulakis (Ajax, Ontario) advanced along the right endline to the doorstep.
FOURTH QUARTER
- New Hampshire controlled play in the fourth quarter to generate a 5-1 shot advantage and 2-0 edge in corners, and the Wildcats eventually tied the score with 2:36 left in regulation.
- In the 48th minute, Tasmin Cookman's rising blast six yards out from the left post was blockered aside by Torres.
- UNH pulled Woods in favor of an extra field player with 3:38 on the clock.
- The strategy paid dividends in the form of the game-tying goal one minute later. With the Wildcats pressuring in the circle, Petiet's shot from the top of the circle was redirected into the cage by Knuttel at 57:24.
- The 'Cats earned a corner with 15 seconds left but did not record a shot.
OVERTIME
- In the 63rd minute, a low, hard strike off Tamera Cookman's stick from the top of the circle rolled just wide of the right post.
- QU earned a corner at 64:06 and Tegtmeier put the ball into the cage, but the goal was disallowed.
- UNH was awarded a corner with 20 seconds on the clock and another with nine seconds remaining. That game-ending sequence began with Lee's insert to Tamera Cookman at the top of the circle. She pushed the ball to the right, where sister Tasmin's bouncing shot through traffic found the back of the cage at 69:58.
INSIDE THE NUMBERS
- New Hampshire finished with a 26-11 shot advantage, including 17-6 on goal, as well as a 10-4 edge in penalty corners.
- UNH held the lead for 27 minutes, 22 seconds; QU was in front twice for a total of 21:02.
UNH NOTEBOOK
- This was Tasmin's fifth career multiple-goal game.
- Knuttel, MacNeil and Petiet all recorded a point in their first career game; all three were in the starting lineup.
- Abigail Johnson (Lincoln University, Pa.) and Carly Warms (Chicago, Ill.) also made their collegiate debuts.
